Bad output IC or voltage rectifier are the most likely at fault.

firt you clean the subwoofer with cleaner after that, check the subwoofer srrounding, no electrical wire ,mobile phone & electrical operated items is near ur subwoofer.
1. Do not use maximum volume of subwoofer.
2. Use only 65-85% volume of your sub woofer.

SOURCE: fuse on subwoofer keeps blowing

Subwoofers draw a tremendous amount of power. With the amount of heat generated by amperage flow and the movement of the voice coil, you may have burned out the coil. Do a resistance check across the coil. Easy check? Temporarily attach another speaker to replace that one. Use LOW VOLUME and slowly work the vol up,and, if the fuse does not blow, it's the other speaker.

SOURCE: blown fuse in mission 700as subwoofer

if you have access to a multimeter, you should test you impedance (ohms) Ω, check to make sure the speakers reads higher than the amplifier needs; this will result in less strain on your amp and diminishement of sound...For example: if you connect two 4Ω
speakers in series it results an 8Ω circuit (least strain). and if you'd take the same two speakers and connect them in parralelle it would result in a 2Ω circuit (most strain).

The fuse blowing is a symptom of something seriously shorted internally. What preceded the initial problem? Smoke is bad. Fire would be soon to follow without the fuse blowing. Take it to a tech.

The required fuse is 1.6 A / 125V an is blown, I wen to radio shack and bought a 1.6A/250V and it has blown 2 already, what can I do or check to fix it? This is a Sony Sub-woofer model sa-wmsp1.

Hi,
If power transformer T1 got shorted or its output voltage got shorted for some reason, fuse will blow in Sony SA-WMSP1 active subwoofer.
Check power transformer, D401 bridge rectifiers and IC301 power amplifier out chip. Any of them is bad.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

The switching power supply transistors have shorted out. Other parts may be gone also. A difficult fix. Too bad, it's a great sub.

Hi bob,
yes I have the active subwoofer book, SA-W305 1998

If you let me have an e-mail address, I will scan and send you copies (8 pages) regards Brian.

P.S. I have been using the unit on its own, just connected to my new tv, and the bass improvment is fantastic.

I had to have the amp TA-VE150 repaired,by having the IC joints resoldered, due to overheating.
