Question about Lenovo IdeaPad Computers & Internet
My netbook is showing this sign: SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 3-Hitachi HTS545025B9A300-(S2). Back up your files immediately and replace your hard drive... Before that, my windows was unable to start and automatically the startup repair runs...but unfortunately it was not successful, the root cause is: E:\windows\system32\XpsGdiConverter.dII are not proper. Old value=0x0 Then when I run the advanced option, the repair identified this: Bad hard disk. I really need some advice on what is the best possible solution I can do. How can I back up my files in Drive C and D if my computer was unable to start?...If I'm going to replace the bad hard drive, can I still recover my files in C and D? (I really need those files).. Hope you can help me.. thank you very much!

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Error message at startup !!
SMART stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology.
If you want lots of details on what it is, and does, take a look at this link:
It is highly unlikely that you will be able to fix this since it's a hardware problem on the hard drive. The drive may last for years or it may die tomorrow. At a minimum I would back up everything you care about on a regular basis.
If you found this information helpful I would appreciate it if you would rate this solution. I hate to beg, but over half of the solutions I've posted have no feedback. I'm not paid for this I'm just trying to help.

that will be expensive. i just went to microcenter and asked them, they said many hundreds of dollars just to look at it, then like 1600 for the cheapest recovery...
1. stop using it immediately. (after an error like that, you may have only minutes of life left on it)
2. get a 25 dollar external enclosure to put the drive into. If it's IDE make sure you get an IDE enclosure, if SATA, get SATA compat. external enclosure.
3. get another computer, o rgo to a friends house, etc, and try to read your data on their computer after plugging in your hard drive inside the external enclosure.
4. if you can see it, rush like mad to copy the data thats important to your friends computer before the drive is 100% dead.
microcenter and similar stores have external hard drives at $129 dollars for a terabyte. BUY ONE! :-)
PS: rumors go around that if you freeze the hard drive in your freezer for an hour, it helps get the data off, dont know if this is in fact true. Once the drive is dead, it's dead. You cant do much about it unless youre willing to part with a lot of money.

Is this a raid configured system. If so then this can happen if there is a conflict in the raid configuration.Reinstalling the raid software may fix the issue.
If this is not a raid configured system then there could be an application from Western Digital which is a utility that monitors the health of the Harddrive and if it finds any bad sectors in the hard drive it gives you this warning message. And if there are bad sectors in the hard drive that may crash the system in feture. So it is better to backup your information before the system crashes so that you wont loose your important information
