International brand heaters

I am looking for any information on servicing a older 1960's kerosene heater. the heater runs but I could get better performance from a blow dryer. the gas chamber holds a great flame but the when I turn the fan on I get luke warm air. I took a shop vac to the stove area and tried to **** out any soot.

There is a possibility that the fan speed is to high, has the fan ever been replaced ?? the lower the air speed the more heat you will get from the unit, but it needs to be the right fan speed as to slow of a fan speed will over heat and burn up the unit, hope that helps

All Pro Kerosene SPC-K50 runs intermittenly

This type of heater can be temperamental because they are often stored for long periods in unsuitable conditions, aren't serviced very often and the remnants of fuel are left inside the tank during storage.

Kerosene has a fairly high natural water content, the tank is vented and normal air pressure changes will allow further moisture and dirt to enter the heater.

Good heater operation depends on very clean and uncontaminated fuel. Tiny dirt particles and contaminants can corrode, wear or jam the spinning spray head.

I suggest you service the heater - a thorough internal clean of the fuel system, clean the filter(s) and spray head, check and if necessary adjust the air pump regulator pressure and ensure the spark plug is clean, in good condition, is correctly gapped and the spark is constant and steady.

Your heater should then be ready for the coming winter season at the end of which, perhaps different summer storage arrangements would be advisable.

Forced Air Kerosene Space Heater Spark plug

I have an older COOP 50,000 BTU forced air kerosene heater. I tried burning #2 in it. Result was rapid fouling of the spark plug. I removed the ground electrode from the plug allowing the spark to jump to the shell. It has never fouled the plug again, runs perfect.

Kerosene is best. It's better for the machine as it's cleaner and will need less maintenance plus it won't run smokey

I need a owners manual for my reddy heater 170t, how can I find one?

I think the actual model number for this is RL170AT

This is a DESA manual but the same exact model except for the name:

Have older 3e198 kerosene portable heater, will not run but a feww minutes. if i take the top shieldoff it runs great

Set the pump pressure to specs. If unsure hoe to do this instructions are at reddyparts.com 's website.

If the heater still has the same symptoms- then change the nozzle. Desa (the mfgr of your Dayton heater) recommends ANNUAL replacement of the nozzle. The nozzle should create a fuel FOG but it becomes a fuel SPRAY after a period of running, due to wear.

Kerosene Portable Forced Air heater comes on, runs awhile

Here is a link to your owner's manual... http://12.153.20.74/manuals/123919-01A.PDF. Look on page 8 and 10. It could be several things. It could only be a dirty fuel filter or the pump pressure may just need adjustment. If you need a part you can contact Master Parts at 800-466-1446 or you can find them on-line at www.masterparts.net. I hope this helps!

R150B Kerosene Reddy Heater-

Neither of you state the model of heater that is giving you starting problems. many of the motors have an external starting capacitor (relay). If so, you may just need that part, if your heater is equipped with one. On the other hand, many have an internal capacitor , which is not servicable.

The unit should have a fuel & air filter. Check that both are clear. Inside the burner tube, there will be a photo-cell, if the lense is dirty it will shut the flame off. The photo-cell needs to see the flame. You can carefully and gently, clean the lens with a tissue, soft cloth, or Q-tip. Please let me know how its coming along.
