Question about GE DPSR483EA Electric Dryer
I had a squeling noise in the dryer (GE DPSR475EWOWW)and I removed the drum as explained in the June 23 note between poorman1 & catriver. I found the noise by spinning the fan from its motor and it was dragging against the metal in front of it. I bent the metal out slightly and the noise went away. However, a new problem got me! I cannot seem to get the belt tight. It was tight when I removed the drum and I slid it off the back of the drum when I removed it. Now it is very loose and I have it around the drive shaft of the fan motor and a white pulley on a crome bar. This bar seems to activate a switch on the bottom of the dryer but I see nothing that will force this pulley out to keep tension. Any suggestions on how to get this belt on? Thanks in advance, MrTryToFixIt
The belt gets tight when you press the pulley arm down place the belt over the outer edge of the pulley and then over the motor axis. The belt then runs like in a "eight". Christian

Best thing I can think of apart from contacting Catriver is a new belt - all this you describe sounds like it could have over-stretched - if you need help sourcing one please ask again (try Catriver first - he Knows) Hope this helps :)
