Call a local technician, and ask to check network settings, outlook email settings, and hardware.

If you want to do it yourself, try first reinstalling Internet explorer.

You are not connecting to the email server at AT&T. Open you email and on the top row click on Tools>Accounts. A window will open. Click on the account that is there and click on properties. On the general tab you should have your computer name, your name and your email address. Click on servers tab. Incoming mail (POP3) should read something like pop.att.net.
On Outgoing mail should read smtp.att.net
Account Name: should be first part of your email address with the @att.com. Password should be ****, whatever password you gave them. Click on advanced tab, SMTP should be port 25. POP3 should read port 110. The only thing different is the SMTP (pop.att.net) and POP3(pop.att.net). AT@T may have give you a different name besides "att" but is must start with pop/smtp and end with .net...that should be it. No reason you can't get any mail on your end. If your problems continue then it is something on your Internet Service Providers end that is wrong. You must call them and demand it be fixed. Not everything can be done on your end, your ISP has to do there part for it to work properly.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the 2 error codes:

  • ERROR:630 - is a DUNS error indicating that the port was disconnected due to hardware failure. Simply stated, this means your modem is not working;
  • ERROR NUMBER 0X800CCC78 - Outlook error indicating that the message could not be sent.
Both of which tells me that for some reason a dial-up modem has been activated in your computer (AT&T) and has taken over the general Internet connection.

Corrective measure(s) include:
  • goto Start, Control Panel, Internet Options;
  • Connections tab;
  • under Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings, Remove/Delete all entries;
  • this would hold true if you are using broadband/DSL with an external modem.
Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

You will need to go into your Email Software and find the setting that indicates that your Outgoing SMTP requires further authorization. Select this setting and enter the username and password required by your ISP (or reqired by who ever is the administrator of the Outgoing SMTP Mail Server that's not blocked by your ISP). For example,(smtp.email.msn.com).

I want my e-mail address to stay at dlhealey@att.net and now it's healeydot@yahoo.com....PLEASE HELP me get back to my original e-mail address....

Thanks for visiting FixYa.

Users of att.net have had their email rerouted to Yahoo. Email sent to your att.net address should be automatically forwarded to your new Yahoo account.

I'm going to send you a TEST email to your dlhealey@att.net email account. Look for it as TEST email. If you receive it, you can continue to use your att.net email address without a problem.

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'fkb@ameritech.net'. Subject '', Account: 'pop.attyahoo.com', Server:...

One problem is that the incoming (POP) mail server shown in the error message appears to be incorrect. The server address should be "pop.att.yahoo.com" (with a period between "att" and "yahoo"). The incorrect mail server address may interfere with authentication of the sender's email address, which is needed before the outgoing message is sent.

The "530 authentication" message indicates your outgoing (SMTP) server likely requires "server authentication". Also, the "Port 25" message indicates your email program is currently trying to send via Port 25, with no SSL; but Ameritech/Yahoo accounts appears to use Port 465 with SSL enabled.

See more on sever settings for "ameritech.net" users:
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/5535
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61941/~/i886---at%26t,-bellsouth,-sbcglobal,-ameritech-email-settings

I would suggest you check the settings for your Ameritech email account in your email program. You may need to correct several settings. The steps to access account settings are somewhat different for various email programs (Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, etc.). You should be able to find guidance in the "help" section of your email program.

When I tried to send email from Outlook, the Internet Service Provider replied -ERR [AUTH] invalid user/password. How can I correct this error?? My ISP is att.net. I have not found a solution on that...

This means that your user/password combination is wrong for that email server. So double check that you have the right password and user name entered for that account in Outlook. If you're 100% sure you have it right, then you might be using the wrong email/authentication server. If you continue to have problems and are located near Washington DC, feel free to contact me through my website.

Outlook express

0x800CCC78 SMTP_REJECTED_SENDER Unknown sender. This is caused by having the incorrect e-mail address in the Reply-To field.

You may have to authenticate in outlook express by putting in the SMTP server name of your internet provider instead of yahoo
for example
Incoming = smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing = smtp.yourISPservername
Some isp's will not let you send out with a different smtp server than theirs.
It's why you can receive but not send.

Hi there

E-mail addresses with "noreply" in them will not receive your messages. They auto-reject incoming mail. Please find the correct address for the recipient.

Hope this clarifies.

Problems with sending and receiving emails

This particular account is trying to relay. Having worked for an ISP before most people do not allow this. Have you EVER been able to send to this person from this same account that you are using?? Chance are no and the reason you can send to someone else is because there account is fine. Can you send an email to yourself or another email that you may have?
