You may need to ensure that your browser has the appropriate plugin as well as having the program; try visiting Adobe's website - http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Try another PDF file program, such as Foxit Reader, to see it it can open. If the same error occurs, the file is probably no good.

How do I download a user's guide

A user guide is usually a document in Acrobat Reader format, so it will be a file named something like xxxx.PDF. When you click on the online link of the file, the download should begin automatically to your drive. Once it is on your computer, use Acrobat Reader to find your download folder and open the pdf file. Sometimes a browser may let you open and read a file online without downloading it.

I scanned to pdf but how do I get document to my document file?

A PDF file can be placed in any folder on your computer and opened with a PDF viewer like Adobe Reader. You can convert a PDF to a document (DOC) file but you cannot open a PDF file with a document editor like Microsoft Word. You may want to scan your document as an image file like TIFF or JPG then use the Insert Picture function to get it into a DOC file.
I hope this helps.

Pdf file is invalid

Hi, there are two kinds of pdf passwords--owner password and user password. User password prevents you from opening the file while owner password prevents you from copying, editing and printing the file
I think the password you mean is probably user password, as you can open the file. But if the file has an owner password, you can not print it. In this case, you can get a pdf password remover like AnyBizSoft to remove pdf password.

I want to edit docs in version 8, when save the pdf as text opens in notepad and formatting is trashed is there any way we can set that to open in word with formatting intact

You will lose a lot of document format if you open a pdf file in word. I suggest that you use an appropriate pdf editor, like Adobe Acrobat full. It has all the features that you need to edit, create pdf files, also export doc files to pdf
