Problem for Sony VAIO F340 (PCG-F340) PC Notebook
Erase and start over

i received a sony vaio PCG-993L from my father and it is running really slow. i want to erase everything and start fresh how do i go about doing that without ruining the compter? can i do this or is there a better solution without saying heck withit all?

If you have the recovery disc which came with this computer,,then you can use this to re-install Windows.
Or failing that,,if you can get a licensed copy of Windows XP you can boot from this and do a complete re-install.
You may want to check how much space you have left on the hard drive,,because you may be running out of room.
Or your computer could be infected with a virus.
Anyhow,,it doesn't sound like too much of a problem, i guess it depends on whether you want to do a little work or not.

- Sorry for getting back to you so late,,,yes,,if you reformat you will get all your space back,,but you will lose any stuff you had on the hard drive unless you can back it up through another PCYes
