Hello! I'll need the trouble code to fix your vehicle...Below is procedure with a code list...Guru...saailer

Remove the trim panels in front of the center console. Locate the engine computer attached to a floor-mounted bracket on the transmission tunnel between the console and the firewall.

  • Turn the diagnostic mode selector, located in a round opening on the side of the engine computer, until it stops. Observe the small red and green LED lights on the side of the computer next to the mode selector. They will flash to indicate the modes, with a pause between each mode. One quick flash is mode one, two quick flashes is mode two and so on. When the light flashes indicate mode three, quickly turn the mode selector counterclockwise until it stops. You have entered mode three diagnostics.

Power is on, and the computer is operating normally. On the desktop computer, a solid green light indicates a network connection.
    No corrective action is required.

To better troubleshoot your issue take a look at the 4 diagnostic lights on the back of your PC, they will give you more information and possible solutions. HERE is the link to what the lights mean on your model PC.
Diagnostic Codes Your computer is equipped with four diagnostic lights, which are labeled "A," "B," "C," and "D" on the back of the computer. Each of the four lights can be yellow, green, or off as shown in the following table. When the computer is turned on or restarted and it is functioning normally, the lights flash during POST. After the computer starts, the lights remain green to signify normal computer operation.
If a malfunction is detected and the computer fails to start, the lights display a code that identifies the problem. Write down the diagnostic code displayed and look it up in the following table.

Power light flashs off and on and pc clicks

Most newer models of Dell computers now have a diagnostic LED surrounding the power button on the from of the computer. When you press the power button to boot the PC, the light should be green and remain green under normal circumstances. Any other lights will help you troubleshoot the power issue you are having.
A solid green light means the computer is operating normally.
A solid yellow light indicates the power supply is operating normally but the computer is not processing data. This could mean there is a problem with the CPu or another component on the motherboard.
A blinking yellow light indicates the power supply is receiving power from the wall, but not functioning properly. This generally means the power supply itself is bad and should be tested or replaced.
A blinking green light means the computer is in standby mode.

So use the LED power light codes if your Dell computer has them. Also pay attention to any unusual beeps or sounds coming from the computer. Well, I was sure that the voltage selection switch was in the right place. And I found it highly unlikely that the processor power cable would suddenly unseat itself. Ugh.
Then I had an idea. I flipped off the surge protector and then flipped it back on. Tada! No more orange lights. Weird. The moral of the story: try the simple stuff first.

I hope this helps and please dont forget to rate my answer. Thank you! :D

Screen will not come on hard drive light no light checked power supply is ok

    Things to check:
    1. Power led on the front of the tower, it should be solid green when on. Flashing Amber is generally an indication of a bad power supply inside the tower
    2. Power LED Solid AMBER indicates system is not finishing the power on self test (POST) and you remove all connections from the tower except power and try turning on again. If no change, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards from system, try again, no change replace motherboard.
    3. On the back of the tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs near the ps2 ports marked ABCD, after the POST, during a normal boot the will flash in several sequences and with boot is finished all 4 should be green. If they stop an a different pattern, then that indicates a failure Yellow Yellow Green Green indicate bad RAM for example
    4. If the LEDs on front and back are Green then the system appears to be booting but the monitor display is not functional

Hi, my server doesn't turn on with the power button, what can i do? The power led indicator is blinking but when I push the power button nothing happens. Is there any other way to turn on that server?

    Hi

first thing i would check would be that you are using a good grounded outlet. Checking with a ground fault checker will tell you if you have a grounded outlet. If the ground check fails, try plugging into an outlet that does check good.

If you dont have one handy, then the easiest way to determine what is causing your server not to boot, is to check the light path diagnostics.

here is a link to the IBM options install guide that also has the diagnostic codes and instructions for accessing the light path diagnostic panel, inside the server.

To access the light path diagnostics panel, slide the latch to the left on the front of the light path diagnostics drawer.

This section starts on page 12 in the manual, or page page 24 in your PDF reader.

    ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/systems/support/system_x_pdf/25r3454.pdf

This could be any number of issues from a faulty VRM, or failed power supply, or bad processor. The light path diagnostics will tell you where the problem is, or at least where to start.

    Hope this helps

My Dimension 5150 box will not turn on! Just blinks, looks like an orange light. Monitor comes on then goes off to orange...

    - disconnect the power cable of the box from the back of the tower and press and hold down the power button for 10 seconds (remaining power will be depleted).
    - Now try using a different wall outlet.
    - Check the diagnostic lights to see if the specific problem is identified (the computer has four diagnostic lights labeled "1," "2," "3," and "4" on the front panel). Also, see "Power Problems" in your computer Owner's Manual and/or Service Manual.

My Dell Dimension 5100C will not come out of sleep mode. Everytime i press the power button, the light blinks orange and keeps blinking ,no noise from the inside or anything. It Just stays in hibernate...

the continuously blinking yellow litght indicates that the power supply gets juice from the line but cannot distribute powe to the components. the first thing to do is to check and see if the power supply is working. dell power supplys have a test button, if you turn the computer around and hold the button on the power supply down for a few seconds the light should turn green, if it dosen't then you need a new power supply. if the power supply is ok, turn the computer on and have a look at the diagnostic lights (on the back, labeled 123 and 4) if you call the dell support line and tell them your model number (or give them the service tag) and which of those lights are on they will be able to tell you what the problem is. if you are still in warranty they will fix you, if not they will direct you to someone who can.

    Not the power supply!

    Hi

To help troubleshoot a problem, Dell Dimension 5100 has four diagnostic lights labeled "1," "2," "3," "4" on the front panel. When the computer starts normally, the lights flash. After the computer starts, all four lights lites solid green. The power button also lites solid green. If the computer malfunctions, the color and sequence of the diagnostic lights as well as the power button helps identifies the problem.

First, disconnect the power cord and remove all connections (Keyboard, Network, Mouse etc) as well as optional PCI Cards. Connect up the power cord (Monitor as well) and try powering the PC.
Check the diagnostic lights/system lights color and sequence and check the link below for more info (Assuming you have another system that can access internet)
    Diagnostic Lights - http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim5100/en/sm/tshoot1.htm#wp1120147
    System Lights - http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim5100/en/sm/tshoot1.htm#wp1114432

Reply with lights color and sequence as well as any beep codes and I will respond at best effort.
