Cub Cadet Riding Mower LT 1046 have to jump, but won't stay running

My Cub Cadet LT 1046 has been sitting in the shed for about 4 months, and we had to jump start it with a vehicle. It started, stayed running, but then died. Started again, after jumping it again, started, took cables off, but then nothing. Is it the battery, or something else?

Check the bottom of the carburetor for a little solenoid. If it has one, the battery may be dead enough that it can't keep the solenoid open causing the carb to shut off the fuel flow causing the unit to die. The easiest way to check if it works is by turning the key to the run position and listen and/or feel for the solenoid to click. If it clicks it is working and there is another problem, if it doesn't then replace it. I recommend having the battery tested or replaced too

My cub cadet 1046 riding lawnmower won't stay running. I've replaced the fuel filter, both spark plugs, and sprayed carburetor ports with carburetor cleaner and it starts but won't stay running.

When you say "stay running", how long does it actually run for? Will it ALWAYS start and run, even if it dies, or will it sometimes not run at all and only turn over?

Why would my belt on my cub cadet 1046 mower keep popping off?

Did you put all the belt keepers back on? I find a lot of DIYers usually leave one off thinking it is not important.

I have a cub cadet lyx 1046 vt less than two years old that will not crank it just turns over but will not start

Check the spark plug, and replace the gas if it's more than a few months old. Old gas is often the culprit if it's been sitting for any length of time.

CUB CADET LT 1046 WONT CRANK

If the head lights come on, check the PTO switch connector. Very often the connector comes loose.

If no headlights, check the fuse. If blowen look for shorted wiring: Mice may have chewed wires inside the flywheel cover; check the head light cable. Often it rubs through at the hood pivot; check the lead on the carburetor solenoid, sometimes they rub through at the wire ties holding the red lead to the solenoid.

I am a certified Cub service tech, and those are the common problems I have run into.

Oh, one more thing, make sure the battery is good. Load test it or have it load tested if you don't have a tester. Don't just check it with a volt meter. That wont load the battery to check for dead cells.

Good luck!
