Question about Pioneer VSX-1022-K Network Ready Receiver
I just received receiver as a gift. I'd like to troubleshoot without letting person who bought it know about it. I hooked up the receiver and it worked fine for a few minutes. But when I hooked up my son's iphone, only one speaker was working. Then it shut off, and won't power back up. Is there anything simple a layman can check himself, such as a fuse?

I know that this post is long outdated, but I came across it and had to post. Sorry, but the solution posted by nfanres is not correct. Just because the KLH speakers are rated at 250W does NOT mean that they will always pull that much from the receiver. That is just a manufacturer rating saying that they recommend supplying a max of 250W to the speakers. The reason your receiver says "Overload" is most likely due to the subwoofer being an improper impedance for the receiver, causing the receiver to see a lower resistance in the load, and thus outputting too much power. I could go into a detailed explanation as to why with Ohm's Law, but just suffice it to say that if you decrease the resistance, current will increase, thus the overloading (too much current draw for the receiver).
If you haven't already, try just unhooking the sub and going back to the setup you had before. Generally, Pioneer receivers are protected, and just say "Overload" and shut down everything so that nothing fries. If you have already tried that, then I don't know what to tell you - something must have internally tripped. You have probably either gotten rid of the receiver or fixed it by now, but I just had to post and clear this up for anyone else who might have a similar problem.
In short, ratings on the backs of speakers do NOT mean that they pull that much power. It's just a rating of how much you can push from the receiver to the speaker.

I have vsx-d812 that has an AMP ERR in error menu. the troubleshooting was found to be Q696 and Q697 in the DC prot. area on "C" board, up near front toward diplay in center of c board. You can get access to error codes on VSX pioneer unit by pressing "enter" and "adv. surr." simultaneously for 2 sec. The display should show what error code you are experiencing. I believe there are three diff. error codes. 1) AMP ERR 2) OVERLOAD 3) BOAD ERR (not mistyped) I hope this helps pinpoint error code for ya.

SOURCE: VSX-D498 Overload
if you have an EQ hooked up it will not work correctly with dolby digital playback and will dammage the reciever.
sorry, just got here , but I have the same unit and have had it for 5+ years and it still works great ! but if you want any device to last unplug it when you are not going to use it for a while.

SOURCE: receiver problem
Try this, it may work for you.
1.)Plug the unit into your mains voltage.
2.)Depress the enter and advanced surround buttons (on the front panel of receiver) at the same time for
at least 2 seconds, you should hear the relay tick and front panel should light up.
