Whether you can get back in depends on your OS and some other factors. IF you run Windows XP you can often get in as follows:
If you are in Vista, you may be SOL, If you are in Linux you ARE SOL, If you are in Mac just trash it and buy a real computer. (a personal bigotry of mine)
You may be able to do some magic with a Gnoppix CD in even the worst cases, but for the average user it is more feasable to Back up your data and reinstall the OS. (you CAN back up data even without account acess in nearly all cases)
If you are in a corporate environment ask your IT staff for help. Ask your manufacturer for help. Ask other users on the box to let you in.
