I've removed / exchanged the RAM, taken out all the cards (video, etc.) and and cleaned all the connections, but still get a continuous beep. On rare occasion it will start fine and I've used it for several days between episodes, but now it only beeps continuously again. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, just a continuous beep and no response to the k/b or mouse. Have tried removing the RAM and then got one long and two short beeps, repeatedly. According to an Asus beep list that signifies a video failure. As ihave removed the video card and got the same result it seems that thebuilt in video must be the problem.

me too--exactly. So if the built-in video is problematic, isn't that over-ridden when a card is inserted? If not, what's the solution?

Does it state a keyboard error? Try another. This was a very common error, but is also dependent on you BIOS make and version.

I've tried different keyboards, but don't think this is the problem. The system offers only a black screen and continuous beep--so no, it doesn't state a keyboard error.

Hi I am working on a abit A 17 mother board it was taken apart by my nephew. I think I have every thing back togather, but when I turn it on it beeps and shows code 92,well I think thats what the l e d box...

Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=AI7&fMTYPE=Socket 478&pPRODINFO=Manual

The fault could be the cpu, wrong type of ram, a faulty ram module
or a fault in the mainboard.
Check all the settings in the manual and the bios aswell.

Here is a list of beep codes:
Basic Beep Codes for ABIT AWARD BIOS Motherboards

  1. No beep at all - this means your motherboard is dead, either due to a defective or underpowered power supply, poorly seated CPU or RAM, or a dead-on-arrival board
  2. One beep - board is working fine
  3. One long beep then machine shuts down - faulty, improperly installed or missing CPU
  4. 1 short(Beep) System booting is normally
  5. 2 short(Beep) CMOS setting error
  6. 1 long - 1 short(Beep) DRAM ERROR
  7. 1 long - 2 short(Beep) Display card or monitor connected error
  8. 1 long - 3 short(Beep) Keyboard Error
  9. 1 long - 9 short(Beep) ROM Error
  10. Long(Beep) continuous DRAM isn't inserted correctly
  11. Short(Beep) continuous POWER supply has a problem
  12. A two-tone siren, generally caused by overheating or out of specification voltages
  13. Four beeps then machine shuts down. This is because this version of the BIOS will shut down your machine if no fan tachometer signal is detected on the fan header. Make sure you attach a fan to the FAN1 or FAN4 header or clear CMOS to reset to default (no checking).

Monitor goes into sleep mode after turning system on. it beeps continually Compaq Presario

Sounds like the video card is bad...the system beeps to warn of a failure on the mainboard...if this system has onboard video then you may need to disable the onboard video in the bios and then install a pci video card..otherwise the motherboard may need replacing

Mobo fried? Beeps when startup but no video. I reseated ram and video card, with no luck. Both fans work and it sounds like it is booting. I tried older video card too but nothing. Thanks for any...

Try removing the display card and using the onboard VGA. Remove the BIOS/CMOS battery for about a minute and then reinstall it in the correct orientation. This will reset the BIOS/CMOS to it's default settings. You say it beeps once, this means that it is fine the mainboard is ok, it is not experiencing any problems. If it beeps in a continuous manner then it is the RAM that is causing the problems, I would say that the default settings may solve your troubles. Remember to enter the BIOS/CMOS when during boot up to reset the date and time by hitting the delete key. Also try entering the BIOS/CMOS even if you can't see any thing on screen, by doing this it may come up. let me know how it goes, I am here to help.

Thanking you

What is your file format? FAT32 wont detect much Space. Try NTFS if not using. You should get the bios update on the site of manufacturer.
