Hampton Bay Covington 54" Ceiling Fan Light Does Not Come On

Fan still works but the light will not come on, i tried replacing the remote box inside and the problem still persists. I have changed bulbs as well and the light will still not come on. Any suggestions? Do I need to replace the part that the bulb actually connects and fits into?

Try taking the lighting kit completely off it make sure the blue wire and white wire are both firmly connected.

Does the remote work on the fan part ok? Do you have the black, white, and green wire on the house side connected to the side of the receiver with the same wires?

You know the black and blue are hot for the fan and lights (blue for lights). If the wiring connections are ok it had to be either in the remote or receiver. Are the dip switches set for the same on each?

I have a Hunter fan with remote and the light flickers without coming on completely - and you can hear a clicking noise coming from the fan. The fan works and the bulbs and batteries were changed

The pins inside the remote could have been switched or the wiring inside the fan could have come loose. Check the wiring at the fan first. The vibrations of the fan could have worked the light conrol wire loose.

Sometimes all you need to do is switch the wall switch on and, off a few times while you press the lamp button (off press the button then: on press the button) no go? then: check or, replace the hand remote nine volt battery. still no go? then:
Check the wattage of the replacement bulb; some high wattage bulbs will rob power from the remote unit. didn't work? OK,
next turn off the power to the lamp and, open the lamp cover: you will see a large plastic rectangular box (the reciever) open the cover on the box and, you will see a block of tiny switches then: open the hand remote battery case it too will have a block of tiny switches these must match i.e. 1,3,5,= on 2, 4, = off both the remote and, reciever box. Barring that ...you'll need a new reciever for your fan.

My fan was installed 2 years ago. now the remote

when incandescent light bulbs burn out they often draw huge amounts of current . thats the bright flash you see .. as the filiment breaks it can start an arc .. the arc vaporizes the filiment material which becomes a conductive plasma.. that, for all practical perposes, short circuits the lamp for a short time ..currents can go so high that they damage the "triac" (like a transistor) in the solid state controller (the electrical brick inside your fan) ... often the triac fails shorted ... so it stays on all the time just as yours is doing ... the triac is usually soldered to a printed circuit board inside the fans electronic control box .... sometimes they are easy to change and are inexpensive ... but often they are sealed inside with potting compound ... that makes them unrepairable by anyone not skilled in the art ....they expect you to buy a new control unit .. or sometimes you can send in your control unit for repair ... you have to call the manufacturer to find out what they want you to do ... by the way .you cant use the new spirial lamps in most of these controllers... there is no hazzard in using your fan/light the way it is . of course you wont have remote control over the lamp until the controller is repaired or replaced ... light bulbs above 40 watts have a built in fuse in their base.. that is supposed to minimize this problem .. but the triac can blow before the fuse opens .... light bulbs 40 watts and below are not required to have the fuse so present a little greater risk to solid state controllers .....

I changed my bulbs and now the fan or the light will not shut off by the remote. The lights dim but that's it.

changing the bulbs shouldn't cause a problem, it could be a difference in the designation of the fixture and the bulb, or be a simple problem with the remote. If you haven't checked or replaced the remote's batteries, you can try checking what the specs are for the fixture (should be on the side of the light-socket), and see how that synchs up with the bulb's specs.
