Control thermostat mounted on the blower housing I would replace. Obviously it is overheating. Don't know what brand you have but they all basically work the same. Nice video:

A plastic hair clip melted and hardened in my clothes dryer. Can I remove it with a hot hair dryer or, would a hot air gun be better?

Melting it will create more of a mess. Since it has hardened why not try introducing a sharp object at the base of the blob and un sticking it from where it is attached.

Why is the metal screen with round holes located in my dryer drum melting some clothes and leaving its impression on those clothes. My appliance is a Frigidaire gas dryer model # LAQG7011KBO.

The metal screen is the place where the heat from the dryer enters the drum. If the dryer is melting items, you have one of two possible issues:
  • The dryer thermostats are allowing the dryer to get too hot.
  • You are drying delicate clothes on too high of a heat setting.

Our clothes come out with a black hardened materiel. The rear screen on drum has materiel melted onto it that appears to be melting during drying cycle and transferring to clothes. Does the screen come...

No it does not and even if it did the dryer's internal temp should not exceed 230 degrees and that would not be hot enough to melt any part of that dryer. Any warmer and it would scorch your clothes. Check for something that came out of a pocket, or some other way was introduced to the dryer.

MY DRYER HEATS ALL THE TIME IT IS PLUGGED IN..I HAVE TO KEEP IT UNPLUGGED SO IT WON'T HEAT..IT HAS GOTTEN SO HOT THAT IT HAS MELTED PART OF ONE OF THE PLASTIC DIVIDERS IN THE DRUM..WHAT WOULD BE THE...

This could potentially be a very dangerous situation. If you would forget, leave clothes or something else flammable on top of the dryer and leave the dryer plugged in, you could come home to a house burned to the ground, not even considering what could happen if someone was in the home at the time. If it has been hot enough to melt one of the clothes tumblers inside the drum, it could, conceiveably have been hot enough to have melted some of the insulation off some of the wiring inside the unit. The only way to tell for sure would be to disassemble the unit to have it inspected, which could cost a fair sized bill in itself, not to mention what it could cost to replace that wiring. In light of this I would suggest just starting a search for a new dryer. Sorry.

We have a gas dryer purchased in 1996, Model #CDG800W. The dryer has started to make a strange grinding sound when we're drying clothes. Any suggestions?

Most likely a bad blower wheel. Over time the hub gets hot, melts, wobbles out, and start to rub the blower housing. The wheel slips and makes it take a long time to dry the clothes. This causes the filter to warp and the top to get extremely hot.fdd151b.jpg513b315.jpga1f312f.jpg77fbb60.jpg

Dryer does not dry clothes but seems to be hot inside when i open the door

Most of these guys get a bad blower wheel. The heat melts the hub causing it to spin free and airflow is reduced. This makes it take fifty forevers to dry a load of clothes. More Here

Orange crayon melted all over the drum of drier and I cannot get it cleaned. Any suggests?

You now have hot melted wax coating EVERYTHING, I bet.

First, unplug your dryer, for safety.
Now take some turpentine or wd-40 and dampen a cloth with it.
Scrub, scrub away.
once it's clean(will take a LOT of elbow grease), you'll want to clean up the solvent.
A wash-cloth, dampened with soapy water, will do a pretty good job here.
Finally, leave the machine OPEN for a good solid day/night.
This lets any fumes remaining from the solvent escape.
this is important, if you don't want to blow up your dryer when you next start it up.

No longer melts solder with tip....

You have burned out residue on the tip. Clead it off with a damp cloth when the iron is hot. If this doesn't get it all, use steel wool. Immediately afterwards, get flux & solder onto the tip or it will get coated again.
