Question about Genius G-Pen F610 (31100050100)

Cannot see cursor location unless the pen is touching the pad

Maybe I just don't know how to use it or how it is supposed to work but the Genius manual is not very helpful either. The problem is that I cannot move the cursor from one place to another unless the pen is touching the pad. So for example if I want to press the "Post Problem" button below using the pen I would have to guess where it is or drag the pen to the location and risk clicking on something on the way such as the "Terms of Use" link.

These settings for the mouse work only when the pen is touching the tablet, which still doesn't solve my issue, which is that I cannot figure out where the cursor is if I move the pen without actually touching the tablet.

  • elivneh Jan 21, 2009

When you say the "cursor is just where the pen is" that's not very helpful since the cursor is on the screen and the pen is on the tablet. This is not a touch screen tablet.

  • elivneh Jan 21, 2009

Seems like all the solutions are referring to a tablet screen while this is a tablet pad.

If this is a normal operation then I guess my problem is different: when I drag the pen on the pad it is as if left button is clicked, so I cannot just move the cursor freely.

"for example if I want to press the "Post Problem" button below using the pen I would have to guess where it is or drag the pen to the location and risk clicking on something on the way"

That is not the correct way to proceed, you do not drag down with the pen blindfolded, you use the scroll arrows to scroll down page and click where you need , all tablets are like this, when pen is not touching screen there is no arrow.

That is the way it works, you have to touch the arrows on the bar at the side of the Window to scroll down the page, and when the button is visible, just click it.

Hi, try increasing the sensitivity of the cursor pad and see if it solves the problem.

Touching the pad is left click, and there's a button for right click. Holding the stylus down (touching the pad) for 3 seconds is also right click by default. I don't think there is scrolling. On the tablet PC (not sure if the USB tablet has it), the back of the stylus is the "eraser", supported by some applications.

Hi

The cursor shouldn't be visible unless you touch the pad with the pen. If you want to click on something just click on it with the pen, there is no need to drag a cursor since the cursor is wherever the pen is. If you want to click and highlight, then you need to drag the pen but never otherwise.

Few things you could try to improve it..

open up the mouse option
start -> control panel -> mouse
Cannot see cursor location unless the pen is touch - 76745ad.jpg
then open the advanced tab

you can enable the show location function so when you press ctrl (control) it would show you where it is. also try the trails, and other settings there.

That's normal operation. altho... if you just put the pen on the item you want to click... that's where your cursor will be

My Genius Mousepen 8x6 tablet isn't working with the pen. If the pen touches the tablet, the light lights up, but the cursor doesn't click and it won't move either. The mouse is working fine, though.

My i608 pen stopped working today. I've had it for a month. The mouse was working fine, but the pen wouldn't work at all. Then I left the mouse on the pad and used the pen while the mouse was on the pad, and the pen started working again. Now it works even without the mouse on the pad. Did it re-establish the radio connection or something by doing that? Anyway, saved me the $25 replacement cost.

Tablet not recognizing pen unless pressing down with it.

Hi, i browsed the Net in three languages to find the solution for this problem but nothing helped, then, accidentally, i bumped into the solution that helped me. I tried everything the same way you did but nothing helped. Since I use the russian version of Windows I do not know how these options might be named in english, but I think you'll understand. In Control Panel there is, as you know, the setup for pen and tablet input (with a picture of a pen) - in it there is a setup for Gestures (the middle one) - in it i disabled the gestures a long time ago. But today i tried turning it ON and went for training of these gestures (the option in blue letters at the very bottom) - and during the training my pen started hovering normally again after half a month of this problem. So I left the gestures enabled after completing the training and it still works fine. Hope it helps you,

New battery and tip, but M609 pen won't work

I do not think that you have to replace anything yet. But do uninstall the pad and after a reboot, reinstall it. This way you would obviate the damage caused by any virus or SW malfunction. Such things do happen sometimes.
