Switch on laptop and straight away press f 8 key this should take you to a black and white screen asking which mode to start in so choose safe mode then go into my computer then control panel and choose system restore. this will start your computer from an earlier point in time when it was running fine. give it a try.

What's the best way to hook up 2 Hifonics hdl12d4 subwoofers to a mono amp

Ok, your post has two different models listed. Let's start with something you need to know about your amplifier. Is it one ohm or two ohm stable. This will make a difference. Also, whether your subs are single voicecoil (HFI12s4) or dual voice coil (HDI12d4).

Let's start with the easy scenario. Let's say your amp is two ohm stable and you have two single voice coil subs. It's simple. You go from the positive of the amp to the positive of both subs and the negative of the amp to the negative of both subs. This will provide a 2 ohm load to the amplifier, thus pulling all the power out of it.

Unfortunatley, if you have two dual voice coil subs, you won't be as efficient. You will only have the options of a 4 ohm load or a 1 ohm load.

This is where having a one ohm stable amp would come in handy. If the amp is one ohm stable, hook the positive of the amp to all 4 of the positives on the subs, and hook the negative of the amp to all 4 negatives of the subs. This produces a 1 ohm load.

WARNING!! If you have a 2 ohm stable amp DO NOT use the last wiring scenario. It will fry your amp.

Now, the last is a little trickier. This is for two dual 4 ohm subs. Follow closely. Hook the positive of the amp to one of the positives of each sub. (do the next step to both subs) Go from the negative of the voice coil that you hooked positive from the amp is hooked to, and hook that to the positive of the unused voice coil. Then go from the negative of that voice coil and hook to the negative of the amp. Make sure this is done on both subs. This will give you a 4 ohm load.

Hope this helps

I have a near new McCulloch M T325 cls line trimmer that will not start. Plug is OK; fuel is clean & correct mix. Suspect Carb. setting is incorrect but user guide does not tell how to correctly set....

Try turning the mixture screw all the way in and then backing it out about one and a quarter turns. Try to start it and then if it doesn't start, just turn it out 1/4 turn at a time and keep it up until she fires. I just did the same with a Weedeater I rebuilt. Once she's running, you can adjust it for optimum performance. Good Luck.

Can cpx 900 be bridge @4 ohm?

The short answer is no. This amp was designed to be bridged with an 8Ohm load not 4. That being said, the unit will work, but get very hot and possibly get damaged should you provide it too low an impedence load. DO NOT conenct this ti a 4Ohm load in bridge mode.

Convert a 4 om amp to play w/8 om speaker

Connect the two speakers in parallel. That will present a 4 Ohm load to the amp.

My teac ref500 amp switches its self now and then and will not switch back on for 5-20mins, can you help

This is a good indication that the amp is geneating too much heat. There are protection circuits inside that will shutdown the amp if it gets too hot. You will need to determine what is causing the excessive load on the amp to make it generate that heat. Look for crossed wires or problems in the speakers. This amp is designed for 4 ohms (I think) and a load less than that will still work, but cause the amp to work harder and generate excessive heat.

Please keep us posted.

Power interuptiions

The unit is most likely getting too hot. Check your speaker cables for frayed wires that may be touching each other. The amp will continue to work, but work much harder into a lower impedence load. Over time this will damage the amp. If the cables are OK, try running the amp with the speaker wires disconnected. If the unit still behaves the same way, there is a problem internally with the output section that should be corrected ASAP.
