Speaker wires not crossed, are well-connected, volume is not too loud, and red light flashes before shutting off around I/O button which is backlit green when on. That said thy're not exactly high-end speakers

SOURCE: Denon dvd player freezes in

sounds like its stoping during layer switch, if the player is old its needs to be cleaned. its best to clean it once every 20hrs or so. if you do not have a disk cleaner you should go buy one first. if the player is new return it and get the best dvd player you can buy for any amount the toshiba xde. this player is phenomenal, the best you will be amazed. no i dont work for toshiba but ever since they started making hd dvd players(i know they stopped)there players have become the best. trust me if you dont think so just return it. no harm done. if you want a blu-ray get ps3 I dont like them either but i have to admit after buying (for movies only)my third blu-ray player it is by far the best one. almost as good as the toshiba on standard dvd playback but not quite. good luck.

SOURCE: Turning volume up on my Denon AVR-485 AMP causes it to turn off

Speaker Impedance:
When speaker systems A and B are used separately, speakers with an impedance of 6 to 16 ohms can be connected for use as front speakers
Be careful when using two pairs of front speakers (A + B) at the same time if their impedance is less than 12 ohms.
The protector circuit may be activated of the set is played for long periods of time at high volumes with an impedance lower than specified are connected.

My Denon DVM-1800 says no disc what do I do?

I have had the same thing happen with my blu-ray. I have tried cleaning the disc; the lens, occasionally with success. flashing the bios. also known as update of the system [can be done online {if equipped} of mine also has a usb port {download the correct file to a USB drive and re-power DVD with the drive in place}]. if these things don't work try manufacturer tech support. I had mine replaced because it wpould NOT flash. good luck.

The battery in my Minolta Maxxum 7000 died while rewinding. I replaced the battery, but nothing happens and the rewind-button/slide is stuck. How do I reset this slide, so I can rewind my film?

Sorry to hear you're having troubles with your Minolta. First thing I would do is make sure that the batteries you put in our good and that you do have power coming out of that battery box. He didn't mention whether the batteries had corroded or if there had been any corrosion previously. The rewind button on this camera will not reset until the camera again advances. In other words it is an automatic release on the camera fires the first time after a rewind. So as an beginning answer to your question I would check the batteries again make sure that all contacts are absolutely clean and as you may have noticed the battery boxes on the Minolta do pivot. The contacts under the pivot points also have to be clean. If you checked all of these issues and you're still having problems please feel free to e-mail me at, Dave@advancedcamera.com.
Thank you good luck

Hi, I am seeking the region free code for a Samsung DVD-D530? Thanks!

I tried the above steps, but each time when restarting the DVD player, it said 'reset' and asked for the language to be selected again. Pressing the "Fast Forward Fast Rewind Fast Forward Up Down" sequence caused the player to lock up and require powering off at the wall.
I found on another web site that there are different initial sequences. Once I use the one for Region 2, it worked fine.

I found the instructions below on another web site, but it worked for me...
  • Make sure there is no disc in the player.
  • Turn on the player (you can use remote control or front panel, it doesn't matter)
  • Wait for "No Disc" message to appear on the TV screen.
  • Press the Repeat button on remote (plain, not A-B).
  • Press the correct sequence of buttons of remote according to the original region code of your player (it's on the sticker on the back panel of the player). FF = fast forward, FR = fast rewind.
    • Region 2 players: FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN
    • Region 3 players: FF, PLAY, FR, UP, LEFT
    • Region 4 players: FR, PLAY, DOWN, DOWN, RIGHT
    • Region 5 players: FF, UP, DOWN, STOP, RIGHT
    • Region 6 players: LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT, PLAY, LEFT
  • If you pressed the correct sequence, a small white number 0 will appear somewhere on the top right of the screen. The white number 0 of the same font and size as the "No Disc" message, so don't confuse with the red "not allowed" sign that would appear when you press a function that's not available.
  • Turn the player off and on again, then you can pop in a DVD of any region and watch immediately.
Good luck!

Dish HD-DVR connected to a Denon 3808ci via an HDMI cable. Problem is periodically, the screen goes black for a split second and then comes back. Rewind and play again the blackout doesn't repeat. When...

Your'e losing digital data from Dish or the DVR. Since even live TV is through the DVR it is always a potential problem when anything glitches. That it doesn't repeat on immediate rewind/playback says the data made it to the hard drive ok.

The Denon is only defaulting back to an analog audio feed upon loss of the digital (preferred) one.

If it affects the video AND audio simultaneously the cause is something common to them.

I'd look at HDMI cabling into the Denon from the DVR.

Don't blame the Denon just yet.

My $.02:

I'd skip the video right past the Denon to the TV/Monitor even if it means using component cables instead of HDMI, but keep digital audio coming in from the DVR. Added cabling and connections never improve anything. Plus, HDMI cables are expensive.

It would be interesting to see if the problem comes back and affects only the audio or the video.

If you use optical cable make sure it has smooth flowing curves and no small-radius bends that would lose light power.
