Question about Bosch Skil Drill / Driver Kit
The drill works fine out of the box.. until you put it in the charger for a day or two and then when you try to use it nothing... it is dead.. no lights on the drill, no movement.. If you put it back in the charger the green light comes on as though it has a full charge.. This is the secound one I bought from Lowes with the same problem.. The first one I took back as I assumed the drill was bad.. What is wrong?
Sounds like the trigger switch is bad. If you know the charger is good and it is charging the battery, then it must be the switch. I suggest you take the charged battery and test it with a multimeter for the 7.2V. If the battery is dead, then check the charger.
Take it back to Lowes and get a different brand.

SOURCE: how to change drill bit
Grab the end of the chuck in one hand, and the outer ring of the chuck nearer the motor, and twist the chuck end. try both directions until it loosens.

I have the same problem. The guys at Batterries Plus told me that 7.2 volt battereis are not easily replaced and definately not through them. If you left it charging for to long (ie over a week when you were gone like me) then the battery is never gonna charge again. You might as well find the same model of dril at skil's reconditioned site for around $40 or buy a brand new one for $60 or $70

The only thing I suggest is taking your Skil driver to a Bosch service center (Skil is now owned by Bosch) and they will replace the charger under warranty if the driver is less than a yr old. If not those chargers are not that expensive. Either way you need a new charger because they are not repairable.

If you are sure that battery is fine, problem can be in the switch or brushes. I would check switch first - open the driver, take 2 wires and attach battery directly to motor contacts, in case it works, problem is most probably in the switch. Juraj
