Usually located inside the control area which is behind a service panel. Service panel also usually had the wiring diagram and possibly component locations. Can also be near the compressor on the small (high side) refrigerant line.

You can check the flame sensor with a microamp meter to see if the flame sensor is good unhook the wire going to the flame sensor put one wire lead of microamp meter in the wire and connect the other wire from the microamp meter to the flame sensor the turn on the furnace for a cll for heat if you get less than .9 microamps replace the sensor.

Installed a new filter and furnace is running great now. The old filter was not that old, but we have been doing some remodeling and I figure that is what clogged it so fast.

Armstrong ultra sx 80 furnace starts up and runs and then the gas shuts off for a few seconds and then lights backup and causes a small backfire my Ultra sx 80 furnace will ignite then immediately turn...


You have a dirty flame sensor. Look at the very last burner and you will see a wire going to a ceramic sensor and it looks like a thick wire. Take some steel wool or fine sandpaper and clean the surface off and it will work like a champ.

Flame sensor could be dirty. It is located right beside the last burner looks like a thick piece of wire. Take steel wool and gently clean the probe 4 or 5 strokes is all it will take to take off the carbon build up off. Lets eliminate this item and see if it clears up okay. ken
