That beep is just a turning on beep most pcs do it. unless its constant.. there is a mini speaker in your pc for these beeps so when something is wrong it will give you a beep code so many beeps mean certan things.

My computer got tipped over and won't boot up It beeps 4 short beeps and nothing happens. What does the beeps mean? It's a gateway dx4870-h with motherboard IPIMB-AR Rev:1.02a

The beeps mean that something has come unplugged from the motherboard, likely the video card or memory. Check that all the cards are plugged in fully, and you will likely be fine.

Black screen blue box saying

some one must have put in a boot password to your laptop,
follow this:
When booting up, enter your BIOS setup (usually by pressing the F2 key at the appropriate time).

Locate the BIOS Password section and turn the ON STARTUP password to off. There is no standard setup for BIOS, so I can't give you exact instructions.

If this does not work, try:
remove cell & start your pc you will here beep...beep...beep...

then turn off your pc & restore your cell.Start your pc and
password is removed.

there is a battery on motherboard,a button cell, you can try removing that and start computer, then put it back, bios settings will be lost.
you can also try removing any hardware like ram,if you have two, when system is off, turn on , it will prompt for changes , enter bios and try remove password.

I turn the power on and my light stays yellow and the fans work but it beeps

The beeps you hear are BIOS Beep Codes and tells you what problem is keeping the computer from booting. We need at a minimum, the computer make & model or the motherboard model #. If you also know what BIOS it uses (Award, AMI (American Megatrends), Phoenix...etc), this was displayed during the boot process when the computer worked if you happen to remember it.
Once you know this we can find the code that tells what the problem is.

Hard drive is disabled on gateway SX2802

BIOS is the system setup that you have to press a F Key or other special key to enter. There is a post / boot / main screen(s) that comes up prior to going into Windows.

More details are required. What is on the screen that led you into BIOS?

The yellow light comes on inside but the computer won't come on neither does it beep?

First remove any power cables and batteries(if laptop) from your system and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.

Plug the power cable back in & attempt to boot.
If this does not solve your problem then you will need to remove all non-essentials from your system.

If laptop, this simply consist of battery, ram, optical drive & any other removable bays or devices. Unplug all cables except the power cable & attempt to boot.

If desktop, you will need to remove any cables plugged into your computer except keyboard, mouse, power, video, sound, & network cable. Open the case & remove any PCI cards, except video cards, unless you have on-board video, unplug the data & power cables going to the optical & hard drives. Now attempt to boot. If you have no luck you can remove your RAM sticks & try again. If you get an error beep warning you about no ram then you might have a bad ram stick. If none of the above works then you may have a bad power supply or motherboard. Power supplies are pretty easy to test with tester or use a spare.

Keys to use at boot time to access bios

It isn't keys, 3glarry, it is key.

It is either the F1 key, or the F2 key.
This key should be displayed when the Gateway logo comes up.
Gateway logo appears? Look quickly at the bottom of the screen.

Preferred method to enter BIOS Setup is this;
As SOON as you press the Power On button, start tapping on the appropriate key. Tap in 2 second intervals.

You may hear beeps. These are Stuck Key Error Code beeps.
You know they aren't real, because it is you that is doing it. Not a stuck key on the keyboard.

Why use this method?
Because the window of opportunity to enter the BIOS Setup utility, goes by F-A-S-T!

Now, may I ask what you are doing in the BIOS Setup utility? Post back in a Comment.

I have a Dell Latitude C610; after initial 'DELL' screen comes up, the laptop gives one 'beep' then black screen and nothing more- power's still there; can get into setup and boot...

This chart details the specifics of what each 'beep code' means. Usually the codes come in series of 2-3 beeps not just one.
http://www.nullamatix.com/dell-diagnostic-beep-code-troublshooting-chart/
You should also make sure the 'dummy' stuff is done, like remove any floppy disks or CDs from the drive if you have one, and remove any USB drives from the laptop as they may try to boot off of them and not be able to. If you've done that, then check the chart in the link for further information. Sadly a non booting, beeping computer isn't a good sign. If I can be of any more help, please let me know.
Hope this response helps you out.
Best of luck!

I was getting the blue screen for a few months, and now when I power my Gateway GM5084 the lights come on and I hear it running but nothing comes up on the monitor. It's like it's not connecting...

First I would try a different video card to see if your video card is faulty or not. If you still can't seem to get any picture it could be that the power supply on your computer is starting to fail and not providing enough power to the video card.

Usually your PC will beep if it is a video card issue so if you don't hear beeps I would guess the power supply is the culprit. A replacement power supply is not that expensive and is quite easy to install as well.

GATEWAY GM5094E Athlon dual core, NO POST TEST BEEP-NO BOOT SCREEN, fan worksHD light comes ON, but no boot.

Being no test beep, I'm saying motherboard. Try removing & replacing ram sticks to see if it boots. Other problems may be simply a bad power supply. Did you test the video with a vid card another vid port? Might want to try that first. It could be you lost the video.
