Small hole just under the tray itself. On an Emachine you may hold/pull the flap down and insert a strong paper clip to manually eject the tray.

Acer aspire dvd wont open with eject button

Whether you use your DVD drive to install software, make backups of your personal files or watch movies, having that drive onboard makes your computer more useful and more versatile.

While DVD drives function normally most of the time, sometimes a DVD will become stuck in the drive, and the tray will refuse to open.

Knowing what steps to take to resolve the situation allows you to start enjoying the advantages of the DVD drive again.

Log on to your computer and click the "Start" button. Choose "Shut down" from the menu and then choose "Restart." Wait for the computer to restart, then press the eject button repeatedly.

Remove the DVD if the drive pops out.

Since there is no hole skip this and go to cleaning the lens.
Shine a flashlight on the DVD tray and locate the small hole near the eject button.

This is the bypass hole and it allows you to eject a DVD when it becomes stuck.

Insert an unbent paper clip into the hole and push it in until you hear the DVD begin to spin. Push the paper clip in until the drive pops out.

Remove the DVD and insert another one.

Use the bypass hole again if the new DVD becomes stuck.

If the new DVD sticks as well, you need to clean the laser lens on the DVD drive.

Insert a laser lens cleaning DVD and close the tray.

Run the laser lens cleaning program at least three or four times to make sure the lens receives a thorough cleaning.

Restart your computer and insert a DVD to test the unit.

My CD rom is not working

No matter what type of laptop you own or how you use it, the CD-ROM or DVD drive is an important part of the unit. With the CD or DVD drive in place, you can play your favorite music or watch your favorite movies, so when that CD or DVD player stops working it is important to get it back in service as soon as possible.

1.Locate the bypass hole on the CD-ROM drive. There is a very small hole, generally located underneath the eject button, on every CD-ROM drive. Unbend a paper clip and insert it into the hole until the CD tray pops out.
2.Remove any CD that is in the tray and replace it with a CD laser lens cleaner. These laser lens cleaners are available at computer shops and electronics retailers.
3.Run the laser lens cleaning program, then try to play a CD again. If that CD fails to play, replace it with another CD and try again.
4.Shut the computer down and remove the AC power cord if cleaning the laser lens does not resolve the issue. Turn the laptop upside down and slide the battery release lever to the unlocked position.
5.Remove the battery and set it aside. Then locate the screws that hold the CD-ROM drive in place and remove those screws. Slide the CD-ROM drive out of the bay, then slide it back into the bay until it snaps securely into place. Replace the screws that hold the drive in place, turn the laptop back on and try to read the CD again.
6.Log on to your computer and right click on the "My Computer" icon. Select "Properties" from the menu and click on the "Hardware" tab. Click the "Device Manager" button and expand the CD-ROM section. Right click on the CD-ROM and choose "Update Driver" from the menu to download and install the latest device driver from the CD-ROM manufacturer.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya

HP d7 notebook cd room drive will not open = (

It the CD Rom drive has a tray that comes out there is probably a small hole in the door to it. You can straighten a paperclip, poke it in the hole, and press......that will release the tray so it will open. Some notebooks do not have a tray and do not have the hole, so I hope you are in luck.

My cd will not eject from my computer

On the top right of the CD drive, you will see a very small hole. Take the end of a paper clip and push it into the hole. That will manually eject the CD by opening the drive.

My cd draw is stuck in the cd drive. How do i get it open

you should find a paperclip and straighten it out, on the front of the CD drive there will be a small hole just big enough for the straightened paperclip to fit in. Push it in until you feel tension and it should start to manually open.

Unable to open dvd/cd

Okay, I need to know whether the drive is currently installed into a computer and if so is the computer powered on. I am not questioning intellect but you would be surprised how many people fail to take into account these simple steps. Now provided both of these factors are not an issue then the problem can possible be resolved by triggering the manual release. Locate a small hole on the front of the unit and using a safety pin something similar, stick the pin into the hole which should cause the drive to open bypassing the switch or any other controls. If this does not work and your system confirms the unit is present, its possible you may have a hardware issue requiring replacement.

if its a dvd playing cd player it is so you cant watch dvd's while driving. Can be bypassed by just connecting it to the black ground wire. Or to the earth connetion on the back of the radio. Which is usually a screw that srews into a 5mm hole.
