SOURCE: hp laserjet 1200 paper jam

Please Follow the instructions in an attempt to resolve the issue you are facing:

  • Turn off the printer and remove all paper from the paper tray & disconnect it from the computer.
  • With the printer off, check for any obstructions such as torn paper or foreign objects.
  • Turn on the printer (still disconnected from the computer) and check the lights / lcd screen.

Still getting the same error ? Go for Warranty or Service.

Else,

  • Place 20-30 sheets of paper in the printer, ensuring none of the paper is torn or creased.
  • Make sure that the paper is flush with the far right edge of paper tray, move the left edge paper guide over so that it touches the left side of the paper.
  • Try to feed paper manually (using the paper feed button).

If you still get the error let me know for further troubleshooting,

Dont vote till you find it is Helpful or FixYa.

Thanks,
Scott

Remove the paper cassette and the toner. Turn the printer upside down and look at the feed roller.

It should NOT spin freely, drive tabs may be broken off of the roller shaft.

You may have a recurrent paper jam. Use a strong light to examine the entire paper path. Even a tiny fragment of paper can cause the problem you describe

Shadow print from 2200d laser printer

This shadow, or backgrounding, is generally caused by excess debris remaining on the drum. This is mostly caused by the wiper blade not dislodging all the waste toner. You will need to replace the cartridge (C4096A).

The green flashing light lets you know that the machine is recieving data. This is completely normal, however, the red (Attention) light can mean several things. There can be a door open, missing toner cartridge, out of paper, or paper jam. In this cause it is probably the toner cartridge. Typically on these machines there is an Orange or Green tab on the side of the toner cartridge that needs to be pulled to fully engage the cartridge. You may want to make sure this has been pulled and the cartridge has been properly seated.

Hope this helps...let me know if you need any further assistance

If the toner smears after the page comes out of the printer you may need a new fuser. The fuser is the heating unit in the printer and can usually be seen from opening the back door. Check and see if it has a line worn down the same side as the mark on your pages.
