How to adjust feed dog

Are you asking how to raise or lower the feed dogs? If so, there is a dial somewhere on your machine that does that. It's usually explained in the "darning" section of your manual.

If you are asking how to lengthen the stitch, that setting will increase the distance the feed dog makes with every backward/forward motion which moves the fabric through the machine faster. Look for the stitch length instruction in your manual.

If you want to actually adjust the feed dogs (ie how far up they rise, etc.), that should be done by a technician as special tools are required to set it properly.

My Bernina 930 does not feed the fabric through the feed dogs. Hoe do I fix this?

Did you unknowingly drop the feed dogs, as for darning? It is the lowest knob on the right, the silver dial in the center raises and lowers the feed dogs.

I don't think my pressure foot is down enough or maybe something is wrong with my feed dog, but I am able to move the fabric every-which-way while it is stitching, resulting in a crooked stitch line.

Without knowing the make and model, it's hard to say, but some machines have an adjustment to change the pressure being exerted on a presser foot. It is 'presser' foot, not pressure foot.

Some have some sort of knob on top, roughly in line with the needle that you either turn or push down.. some have a dial inside the side door with a few numbers on it, that may start at 0 and go to 3 or 4. If the pressure adjustment has become set at 0, then you get what's happening with yours, being able to pull the fabric like you can.

If there isn't any knob or dial to change the pressure, then it may be the feed dogs need adjustment or the bar that the needle and presser foot are attached to needs adjustment, and that wouldn't likely be a fix you can do yourself unless you are very handy with mechanical things.

Some machines also have a lever or switch that allows the feed dogs to be lowered out of the way. If yours has this, it may be stuck in a position below being all the way up, and that might be the issue. A feed dog switch is usually at the front of a machine, low down, not too far from the feed dogs.. but without knowing what machine, hard to say where it might be exactly. But check for both these things.

Presser foot is to tight on fabric causing it not to move and there is no adjustment dial

It may also be that the feed dogs aren't adjusted properly. It any case these adjustment are all internal and very difficult to do without access the the service/parts manuals. My advise is to take it to a Brother Dealer or service center.

How do I adjust tension on my dogfeed?

You haven't said what make and model of machine you have.

Howver, pressure onto the feed dogs is usually controlled by adjusting the pressure foot pressure which is pushing the fabric down onto the feed dogs, you don't usually adjust the feed dogs themselves.

Pressure foot pressure is sometimes a dial or knob on top above the pressure foot area, if there isn't one visible on your machine, then it probably isn't a feature it has.

My Janome has knob on top that you can turn turn or up to tighten or loosen the pressure - I don't usually adjust it much though, only time might be if I'm sewing a couple of layers of vinyl or leather and having trouble getting it to feed.

My feed system don't pull the fabric through..What am I doing wrong?

I suspect that there is not enough pressure from the presser foot. Is there a way to adjust the pressure with a lever or a dial? And are the feed dogs up all the way? Without seeing it, I am only guessing.

What is the purpose and use for feed balancing dial?

The feed balancing dial is for adjusting some decorative stitches that do not form correctly because of the type fabric being used, for instance, the stitch seems too close together to form the design. You would turn the balance towards the plus side. It will also affect the buttonhole sides, if one side seems different in stitch density than the other then you would adjust the balance.

My white speedylock 1600 is being difficult.. The top threads lay and look perfect.. but the bottom threads are loose.. What can I do about this?

This machine has differential feed (top tension is different from bottom and fabric feed rate can be different from bottom). turn the dials for tension and feed rates to adjust. Adjust bottom tension to tighten bottom threads and possibly speed up bottom feed rate. Tough to say without more info.

Good luck and please rate me.

From White Sewing web site.

"Are wavy fabrics making you seasick? Do puckers leave a sour taste in your mouth? Then you need differential feed. It eliminates distortion and wavy seams when serging knits, plus it prevents puckers and pulled seams on lightweight fabrics. Turn the dial again for instant gathers.

Is it possible that you've lowered the feed dogs and not raised them again? Is the stitch length dial set to 2.5 and not on a buttonhole blue setting or the Automatic "A" setting?
