Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My remote display says ''error'' after replacing batteries.

None of the functions work. I pulled and replaced batteries several times. Is there a reset in this unit?
Thanks,
DS

Check for a stuck button. You may be able to re-set it by removing the batteries press each button several times (you can push several at a time) let it sit for a few mins. press the buttons some more and replace the batteries. Hope it works for you.
It could also have a bad internal connection.

Universal remote codes

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.

Dvd remote control sensor not working

If you are using the Player's original remote, if you have a cell phone with a camera and display or a digital camera with a LCD display, place the remote in front of the camera and press a button. If the remote is functioning, you will see a red flashing light on your camera screen. If not, check the remote's batteries and connections at the battery location for corrosion. Beyond that, there's not much else to check. Generally, the IR receiver in the players don't go bad, but it's possible. If it's an expensive unit, service is an option, if not, it's cheaper to replace. DVD players start under $50 for an ok model.

The remote functions intermittently. have replaced the batteries. if I fiddle with the remote for about 15 minutes it will function so of its functions are slow to respond

Try this advice:
http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Display&contents=help_deadremote&uuid=A12954406270641
"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved
How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
-----------------------------
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.
If it works, Great!
If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.
Find new or replacement remotes:
http://remotes.com/store/codes_original.html
or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

I'm having trouble finding a remote control that works for a durabrand ht-395 home theater system. I found one but it's $40.00 and that is very expensive for a remote control. Is there something else that...

Although any universal remote will work if your reciever isn't really old, it is always impossible to tell how well they will work or what functions will work. Although a home theatre receiver doesn't have any advanced functions.

The safest thing is always to contact the manufacturer and see if you can get a replacement remote. This is very expensive and not always possible, but it guarantees full functionality.
The next step would be to buy a really cheap universal remote and see if it works, which it should for the home theatre. I would guess you only need power, volume, and perhaps function changing right? If so, a cheap one should work. If that doesn't work, then you are pretty much confined to buying a really expensive one with more functional control in the hopes it will work, but you never can tell until you try it unfortunately. I have an RCA home theatre receiver that is quite old and it's a good thing i still have my remote, because none of my many universal remotes that I have work with it....

Non-functional pioneer remote

Hi

I did read through your comments, I am only going to offer advice to your original question. I have a great deal of experience in these matters and am confident you can repair the device, solving all your problems.
Your remote will most probably be repairable. There are only a couple of things that normally stop a remote from working. Most have been mentioned already across the various posts. To summarise then in order of probability:

  1. faulty batteries or battery connections.... Cleaning the terminals with an finger nail emery board, then a spray with contact lube spray such as CRC 2-26
  2. moisture or contaminants on the switch contact PCB(black carbon etchings) forcing more than one button to be "jammed on" See this TIP I have written. Also has details on how to get the remote apart.
  3. dry/cracked solder joints to the infra-red LED. Resolder the connections to the PCB.
  4. Faulty or dry jointed ceramic resonator 37e4657.jpgresolder first, they dry joint alot. If still no luck, replace the device with the exact same type. Contact me with the markings on it and I can provide you with information to source it.
  5. faulty IR LED.
  6. cracked PCB. Not repairable, you may be able to get a replacement PCB from Pioneer.
I have repaired hundreds of remotes over the years, and was a Key Service Agent for Pioneer for 12 years. If you are interested in repairing the remote, check out the TIP I wrote on how to get into the device, then go through the list above, then post back to me your findings. I am sure we can get to the bottom of it.
