SOURCE: I took my Dyson DC

That spring thing goes where the pedal screws into the side. When 'facing' the dyson in the front, it's on the left side. The spring's circle part and short stem section goes into a divot area on the pedal. The other end is tensioned (braced) against some housing piece, but once you insert the spring part in the pedal end part, you should be able to figure it out from there.
This darned spring makes the pedal 'tensioned' to where it pops back up vs. flopping nonsensically.

SOURCE: My dyson dc25 pipe has lost suction..is something ...

We had the exact same issue. Turns out my wife had inadvertantly sucked up a magnet that was the same size ans the tube. Hold the tube up to a light source. If you cannot see any light, there is something stuck in it. To dislodge the item, stretch out a wire hanger and run it through the tube. It should lislodge the item. Dyson's are great but are very tempermental!

Red footbar stuck and dyson unable to stand upright

These have a problem with the undercarriage units to which the red foot pedal you refer to is attached. If you see no obvious obstruction, and this is a late model machine, ask Dyson to repair it under the five year warranty.

The vacuum will not go back up into its upright position

After speaking to the Dyson helpline I repaired this problem easily. Lay the vacuum on its front. Looking at the pins either side of the red foot pedal you will see they have popped out of the groove into a square pocket. Flex the pedal to guide the pins back into place. This is made easier with a second person pulling the grey frame outwards.

Hi, pressing the big red foot button on the dc25 lowers the cleaner to the working position, but it wont stand up again. would appreciate some help. thanks. TC

sounds like the ball cradle is worn out, the springs are too stretched to pull the handle release pedal back into place. you can do one of two things, replace the cradle assy, or just lift the red pedal up when you raise the handle
