Cooling fans are too loud

I've been trying to find where the fans speed can be adjusted but to no avail. It boots and posts with no issues.

Hi.

Sounds like the laptop just needs a right good clean out of dust. Get a can of compressed air and clean the air vents and the fan grill if you have access to it, that should quieten the laptop down. Dust is a common cause of noisy fans.

Regards.

SOURCE: how to adjust cooling fan speed

no. The factory defaults set to right cooling temperature. It automatically adjusts the temperature. If your processor is cool fan automatically offs. So dont worry about that

SOURCE: How do I access the fan on an HP Pavilion DV3

Honestly, try harder. If you've taken the thing apart, you're more than half way there. You probably just need to unscrew more stuff and pry more parts out.

Hi my name is Steve, my Acer M5811 CPU fan is running at high speeds since a couple of months now and after 2 minutes of gaming, it's game over for my Acer. I've applied cooling gel to no avail. I...

Well if the fan is runing at top speed I dont think you have a bad fan, if you re-pasted the CPU correctly (I suppose you cleaned the dust build up in the heat radiator as well) since you had it in your hands... I dont think it's radiator dirt, and if the system POST (Power On Self Test) an can boot in to the OS (Operating System) I don't think it's the CPU either... The only thing I could think of is a power supply issue, try an other one, or a bad component RAM, PCI CARD, ETC... (but befor spending money) unpluge averithing you can leaving just the power, CPU, RAM and start the computer, if it POST and the fans are at a normal speed, than power down the computer and plug back stuff ONE AT A TIME to determine which of the components is causing the problem, if not sucsessful than try an other power supply or other RAM modules...

Cheers!

I have a hp g62 laptop and the case fan has completely stopped working. When i first got the laptop it was fine, then the fan was functioning but very loudly then eventually it has stopped working

You will find thousands of posts in as many forums regarding this.

Solutions that have been successful have been:

- Simply blowing into the vent (Will get frustrating, trust me there!!)
- If you are confident, take it apart and clean out the heat-sink (YouTube has some tutorials, or email me)
- Take it to a techie for pro cleaning
- Check BIOS updates/tweaks etc (not for faint hearted)
- Upgrade the fan.

I am researching as we speak about which fan I can upgrade my machine with. There doesn't seem to be any 'live help' anywhere, I have to pay for a solution that I've probably already tried and failed.

Good luck, hope this babble helped.

Where can I get a manual for my Emerson Quiet Cool Room Air Conditioner? Not sure the model, but these #s were on outside of box: 10DC93 784040B OE21M N14421, is on a little sticker on the right...

Let see if I can help. The numbers don't come up so we'll just try your information.

Exhaust - should be closed when using for Air Conditioning
Energy savings turns the fan off with the compressor when set for Air Conditioning
Fan Only means just that (no Air Conditioning)

Fan speeds Quite same as low, Norm same as medium, Super same as High
Temp settings, what the thermostat senses before cycling compressor.

I have a couple M90 & when I boot them up all I hear is the fan very loud & no video I've opened the unit up everything is in order

Hi,

I have met similar problems with IBM ThinkPads. From my experience with ThinkPads, the problem is usually associated with faulty graphics chip on board.

Sadly, there is hardly a solution to this problem except getting a new motherboard. If it is a desktop, then I suggest you try usinjg an add-on graphics card and try booting the machine.

My Onkyo S7300 receiver doesn't work, it makes choppy sound why it turns on

this may be the HDMI heat issue i've found with these amps. the issued is caused by the heat produced by the 5V voltage regulator under the HDMI board. once the sound starts to get choppy and or cutting out sometimes with a loud boom. the only way to get around is by installing a fan. First try using a 12V 4Inch fan place it directly on top of the amp cover over the HDMI board use a good Power adapter so the fan runs fast. Now IF it works! I suggest you install a Internal fan I have attached the picture for you to follow. the fan will not be as loud because the supply will be only 6 Volts. NOW TO AVOID THIS ISSUE FROM HAPPENING AGAIN TURN OFF THE HDMI CONTROL UNDER THE HARDWARE OPTIONS. HDMI PASSTRU IS THE MAIN ISSUE HERE. the regulator sits there for hours cooking that board. it's why half of Onkyo HDMI capacitors and regulators die out.Be careful do this at your own risk. High Voltage inside this amp. good luck.mvianna_0.jpg

Dell inspiron 8500. fan comes on high speed & system locks up, requiring turn-off at switch & reboot. what gives?

Normally fans racing at full tilt on boot indicate either a severe cooling issue or an indication of a NO POST.

See if you can take some canned compressed air, can blow in and out the intake and exhaust vents for the CPU cooling and see how much dust you can get out of the system

If no change, then remove all times you can tale out (Battery, RAM, WIreless Card, Modem, HDD< OPtical Drive) and see if the system has any change in indications.

If no change, likely a motherboard. If changes, add RAM back, see if system will post and you can access BIOS. Continue adding parts till you ID a faulty one.
