Thank you for the info, I love my 57 inch and decieded it would be best for me to have it serviced. I have no experince taking t.v.'s apart. I was told it would be 250 canadian dollars to have it fixed. So i went and dropped it off. Considering i was thinking the worst and that my repairs were going to be in the thousands i was very please to be told it was only $250 to have it fixed.

I have exactly the same problem with green and pink outline of images on left side of the screen.  I called Sony Customer Service they tried to reset it but didn't work.  Then I was referred to an Authorized Sony Dealer and I was told the repair would cost roughly $400.  I only paid $1200 for it and so that's about 1/3 of the price.
Can anyone help me figure out and resolve the problem?

I have a Sony Projection TV Model #KP57WS510. There is an arc around edges and color runs together. can you help

Projection sets have two very common problems listed below. bb0cf99.pngYou can see some more examples and find a fix using this link on Fixya http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

I turned my kp57ws510 on and I had three images-red, blue, and green. If I put it on ESPN the ticker at the bottom is curved.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Sony big screen t.v-the light will turn green but after few blinks it will turn back red. and turn off. we called the sony company and they wanted us to pay for their trip to our house and we have to pay...

Does the red light blink? If so how many times? If the tv has never been worked on most likely the lamp is bad. That will cause shut off it would normally blink 3 x if so.Check the lamp and see what condition it is in.thx

The color green is almost totally nonexistant. Ie while watching a baseball game, the grass is brown. If I adust the color from the menu screen all the way to the maximum, the grass becomes slightly bluish...

Two possible reasons here:

1) Does it look the same when you play a DVD etc or is it just with the sat receiver? If the same either way signal is not the problem.

2) On the set, turn the color all the way off and go if you can find one to a channel that is in black and white---What color is the screen? It should be something like a black and white picture.

The model indicated has a long history of problems with the three picture tubes.

If the picture is not black and white etc there is a manual way (not with the remote) to try to adjust for this---depending on your answer to the above I can tell you exactly how to do this---takes about 10 minutes and a Philips screwdriver---you do not have to be a tech to do it.

If I have told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Everything on the screen is doubled focus and it seems like the screen is calapsd in the middle

What you describe is probably a color convergence collapse, usually caused by a power amplifier failure, refer to the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esk4nYZKFcg if this video is close to what you see on your TV you will need to replace both power convergence IC, the model KP57WS510(model given in your post) calls for STK392-510 both are available through UED, email johnl@ued.net, the above link gives an idea on what is needed for the IC replacement, that is if you're thinking of repairing the problem yourself.

Hi. On my sony 57in. tv i am getting red arched lines over the entire screen, and double images. 5 years ago i had a similar ocurrence and the tech changed a module. What is the cause ? and why again so...

2 Things can cause this Red Tube needs to be adjust down on screen drive control or you need to replace Both of your STK ICS. Sony has alot of problems with Defective Tubes.Red and Blue Shorted out the most.

Sony kp51hw40 has green shadows and on edges in pictures and blue flickers on and off, tried all adjustments including screen, focus, and menu??? no luck

The CRTs in this model of TV had a problem with internal leakage. The blue was usually the first to show the symptom (flicker). Because all 3 CRTs are connected to the same high voltage source, when 1 acts up, the other 2 suffer as well. You need to replace the Blue CRT. However, this TV has some age on it... 1 tube will lead to 2 tubes, and 2 tubes to 3... They only last about 7 years. If you love the TV, replace all 3 (about $200 each). I recommend replacing the Red and Blue first, adjusting the geometry and convergence to the original Green. Then replace the Green, adjusting the geometry and convergence to the new Blue and Red.

Sony 1292 - the red tube seems to always run at full output. There is a most distinct red cast to everything. When the projector is idling, with no input present, the blue and green tubes barely glow,...

remove front bottom panel and turn RED screen drive down it will be on your Focus/screen drve control block 3 controls on top for focus R/G/B and 3 below for screen drive to tubes R/G/B
