Question about Canon PowerShot A460 Digital Camera

3 Answers

The picture we have taken was white/grayish screen- no images..

My Canon PowerShot A460 cam is working well until yesterday, the biggest festival here in our place took place. teh flash, the lcd screen, etc is working... but, when i took pictures, the lcd screen turns blank after taking a picture. the picture we have taken was a just white/grayish - no images... I tried it inside our home and it is working again. i concluded that the cam is not working outdoors, only indoors. I missed taking photos ourselves and the Sinulog 2009.

Please help me...

same problem overexposed outdoors ok in low light

My one year plus old A460 shows same problem. Indoor shots are o.k. even with flash, it gives reasonable(not good) picture. But outdoor its just white..nothing else. Resetting did not help, also re-inserting batteries.

i have the same problem with our a460. and what t00nz said (stuck shutter) is what's exactly happening with our camera. i guess they do not make digital cameras as sturdy as they should be.=(

Sounds like a stuck shutter mechanism. Go outside with the camera, and look down the front of the lens and take a picture. Do you see movement? You should see the tiny shutter move (a small flicker) inside the center of the lens as the picture is taken. If no movement is seen, then the shutter is likely stuck in the open position. Photos look over-exposed in daylight, and may look normal in low-light conditions. Unfortunately there is no simple fix for this, as the camera will require professional repair. Sadly the repair may cost more than the value of the camera.

I tapped the extended lens barrel gently on a table top, and flicked it with my finger a few times. The stuck open shutter then released. Other persons say this problem will recur and new camera will soon be needed. Calvin P Bear

My camera (an A460) did the same thing, about a week ago. Any pictures taken outdoors were just washed out with bright white. But the camera worked inside. I reset it and it seems to be fine now.

Go to Menu> Tools and then scroll down to Reset All.

I have a canon camera A460. when i used outdoor the image appears to be white..but when i used it indoor it appears okey

Hi.

It could be over exposure or maybe it is set to indoor or night settings.. Try setting it to automatic or to "outdoor" when you go outside and then take a picture.

Please try and reset the mode of the image to see if the LCD does not go blank when shown to higher light. Also if there is no issue with the indoor pictures then it is possible that the auto light detection is giving a higher value to reset the image balancing. Shift from Auto to manual mode and try.

Takes a picture but the screen is white

Get it serviced. Taking of picture is not depending upon screen. screen is for just viewing purpose. while the pictures are taken by the processor located inside...

No image display on camera mode

There are different settings. You can view the past photos because you are using the viewer for that, but you have a setting off in the menu. You need to turn on view photo or preview photo after picture taken. I am not sure what it is in the Canon line, but look in your manual for the setting.

Try going into the M(anual) mode on the selector dial and then turn off the flash (press the right side of the controller button until you see the lightning bolt with a bar through it). The macro shooting option should still be available in the manual mode.
