Only if you can prove that the fire/smoke was caused by a machine defect and not a lack of cleaning the unit out once in awhile.

Can a dryer heating element smoke if dryer is not running?

Something fried and is shorted. Unplug this unit right away. There are a few sensors on this that could have overheated as they failed causing this smoke and smell, but UNPLUG UNIT!!! Then look at what has fried.

I just repalced the vents since I moved the dryer from one room to another. The dryer works find but I am concerned about the white smoke emitting from the vent in the ceiling?

are you sure that it is smoke that you are seeing and not dust or drywall dust as you said you replaced the vents. It could be dust from the work you have done. Check to be sure it is actually SMOKE and not something else. If it is smoke do not run the dryer anymore until you have it accessed .

When drying the dryer seems to smoke and coils get red. how can i fix that problem?

Check your cycling thermostat. Sounds like it's cycling on the high limit rather then the thermostat. While inside the unit, clean the lint out of the whole thing. Smoke is not a good thing. Where there is smoke, fire isn't far behind. Good luck!

Dryer to hot and smoking

Get a dryer vent cleaner and stick it in as far as it will go. You have a plug somehwere in the vent and it needs to be cleared, try doing this from the top down to avoid making the clog worse

Brand new dryer has smoke coming out of the dryer

They certainly should not be smoking on start up.
Try them without the vent hoses connected, and see what happens, if they still smoke then I would say they are faulty.
Plz rate my comments.
Thanks.
Make sure there is no internal packing in the drums that should have been removed.

check the power cord itself, if you see on the back side of the cord a burnt or blackened spot then the cord is the issue
