Need a manual for down draft slide in electric oven

OVEN BAKES TOO HOT. HAVE TRIED THE PROCESS OF -25 DEGREES, BUT STILL IS TOO HOT. SEEMS THE THERMOSTAT DOES NOT WORK ANY MORE

Sir, I think the top oelement is for broiling ONLY. It should not turn on when baking. The clicking may be the oven heating up.
How far apart were the oven temp instrument and the digital?
Don't expect them to match...they are inaccurate.

1. Heat water until it boils. Place digital therm in boiling water until it comes up to 212deg. If it is not at 212 in boiling water, record the error.(this gives a rough calibration to the digital)
2 Turn on oven, set to 350 deg, place digital therm on rack. Wait until oven reaches 350 (on stove) and read the digital. Note the difference between the two

First, I would buy an oven thermometer to use in the gas oven to see if the temp you set is what you are getting. Second, Perhaps, you used a different pan or cookie sheet in one vs the other? Also the cookies perhaps should be a little closer together as they bake. A cookie sheet with a lot of uncovered surface will get hotter than one with a bigger load. (ever notice the instructions for biscuits or cinnamon rolls say "sides touching"?, same reasoning. if you put a few rolls on a big sheet or pan, you'll burn the bottoms, gas or electric.) Hope this works for you, when you get happy using the gas, you won't want an electric again.

In addition to what aborcass stated, I just had to fix the same problem. Remeber to turn off the power before you do this. On my stove the element acess is behind the side panel (right side when facing the stove). You remove two screws on the back and one underneath at the bottom, (you need to pull out the drawer). Once screws are out, slide the side panel forward gently about an inch and it should just drop off.
You should see the wires for the element level with the bottom of the stove. The wires will guide you to the element. And you should see that the element is screwed in with two screws to the stove. This is the tricky bit, to remove the element follow the metal piece holding the element to the right until you see a third screw. Remove this screw and the whole thing will come out. Take off the wires, replace the element on the metal strip, slide the element and metal strip back into the stove (take care to ensure the left side of the metal strip slides into the proper position under the metal clasp. Re-attach the screw, plug the wires onto the element and turn the power back on. You should have heat.

Hi, When you put the oven on bake, can you see the ignitor glowing but get no flame?
Sound like the ignitor might be getting weak and not opening the gas valve. Please let me know if this sounds like the problem.
It is common for the ignitor to go bad. Even if it glows, it can be bad.

Thermador dual fuel oven temperature not accurate and the dials dont match temperature


Faulty thermostat it's the thin copper shaft in the oven that has a skinny tube running from it if you remove the oven knob you will find it goes back to the switch. Needs replacing.

When baking the oven doesn't bake evenly and always bakes quicker than the time on recipes. Items burn and the middle is raw. Can the oven be recalculated to work better?? John


Electric ovens are always different from gas ovens. You have to set the temperature on average 10-15 degrees lower and watch out 15 minutes earlier if you are baking cakes, 5 mins for cookies etc. Always bake in the centre of the oven. use a metal bowl of water in another tray which may help balance out the temperature

Well, your temp seems about right, but you may need to experiment. A good thermometer helps in gauging temp, ovens are notoriously inaccurate. All oven are different, but it is usually recommended to go down 25 (15C) degrees from the recipe if you use convection. The type of pan you use has an effect. Glass needs to be 25 degrees less, and nonstick/dark pans brown faster than the insulated type. Make sure that you fully preheat as well, or the bottom may burn. Other than that, convection cook times are less if the bake time exceeds 15 or 20 minutes. Thanks for your question, sorry I can't give a more precise recommendation.

Built in oven won't get hot

Usually, when an oven won't heat up or bake, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it. Now if the oven It bakes poorly Here are two instances of when food "bakes poorly:" When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out. You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results. If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component. When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly. If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective. Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details. Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat. If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem

Need to adjust oven temperature on a Croley gas range


you shouldnt need to adjust the burners for a temp problem.
the control has a built in calibration setting and it should be described in your owners manual.
if you dont have the manual, then try to set the oven temp to max, 550, and then hold the bake button in for 10 to 30 seconds. after that it should beep and show you a 2 digit number like 00. that is the calibration mode, then you can adjust it up or down +/- 35 degrees. try to make a small adjustment first like 10 degrees and see how it bakes.
if it takes too long to bake, then use + degrees, if it is burning things then lower -10 degrees.

Oven temperature low


It sounds to me like you are using the convection oven. When you are using the convection oven it will heat 25 degrees lower due to the circulation in the oven. This is normal.

Perhaps the item you are using to check temperatures is not accurate. I my line of work, I use a digital thermometer which records immediate temperature. Perhaps understanding the process will help you see more accuracy in the way you read the temperature in your oven. Allow me to offer this explanation....First of all, place your thermometer near on the top rack as close to the oven temperature probe as possible. This probe is the focal point for your oven and detects the temperature and opens the electrical circuit to turn off the element when the desired set temperature is attained. Set your electric oven to 300 degrees and hopefully, you have a window in your oven to watch. The bake element will come on and the temperature will rise until it reaches 300 degrees. It is at this point when your oven bake indicator light should go out. When this happens....look inside. The element is still bright orange and emitting heat and will continue to raise the temperature in the oven to approximately 325 - 340 degrees. With this noted, you will see the temperature beginning to drop 315, 310, 300, 295, 290, 285 perhaps even 280 or some even lower to 275 and then the indicator lamp will go on indicating the circuit has closed thus turning on the element, Finally there is a variance and no range GAS or ELECTRIC will ever maintain a even 300 degree temperature. The calibration set point is based on the 300 degrees. If your oven light goes off within 20-25 degrees of three hundred degrees, your oven is already calibrated pretty close and I would not attempt to adjust it at all.

Oven bakes unevenly and burns food


When foods are burned, soggy, or baked unevenly, it generally means heat isn't being distributed evenly throughout the oven, its escaping out the door or the controls are out of adjustment. 1) Remove any aluminum foil from racks or the bottom of the oven. 2) Check the door gasket and, if necessary, have it replaced. 3) Be sure nothing is obstructing the vent. 4) Reposition the oven racks so baking pans aren't too close to the heat sources. 5) Check your baking pans. If they're dark, they may be burning your food. Reduce temperature by 25 degrees F when baking in dark metal or glass pans. 6) Recalibrate the controls.
