Question about Mitsubishi LT-46144 46 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Mitsubishi 46in. LCD

I recently turned on my 46 in. Mitsubishi LCD, and it has a green vertical line approximately 1/8 of an inch thick about 3 inches from the left edge of the screen. Over the course of about 3 minutes it fades and disappears. I am concerned that one of these days the line will not disappear. Anyone have any idea what may be causing the line to appear. The digital board in the television has gone out, and been replaced twice in the 10 months I have had the television as well. The repairman that replaced it both times said that he had no idea what would cause the board to go out, but it must be something.

I have the very same problem with the green vertical line about 3 inches from the edge. It goes away after ten minutes or so. My model number is the LT-46148. Will Mitsubishi send a authorized repair person or do I have to bring the tv in.

I have the same problem and have had the panel replaced once already about a month ago and the problem is back...I called again and hope for a new set.

Basically the same problem. The first time, I had lines on both sides and they replaced the panel. Now I have a line on the right side. I am out of warranty by about 20 days, but Mistubishi is now saying that they recongnize the problem and are extending the manufacturer's warranty. I would suggest you call them back and escalate if need to find out about the extension.

Basically the same problem with my set. The first time, I had lines on both sides of the screen. The panel was replaced under warranty in Oct 2008. I now have a line just on the right side (for now), and I am about 20 days out of warranty. However, Mitsubishi seems to be recognizing the problem and told me that they are extending the manufactuer's warranty by another year. I would suggest that you call them back.

I also have a 46144 that had two vertical lines appears at each side of the display after a few months of use. Mitsubishi sent a replacement dispaly which was installed underwarranty and, now, that display also exhibits the problem. Here we go again. I here this is a somewhat common probel. After the unit heats up, the contact expand and the line(s) disappear, but who wants 20 minutes of red, green or blue lines?

The TCON board at the top of the panel is causing the issue. You will need to replace the whole panel.

When the set warms up, the TCON behaves. Replace the panel now to avoid what will eventually become a permanent line (if not several)

Thick vertical lines

Hi. I am sorry to tell you that your LCD screen has finished its usefull lifetime. This is a typical pixel-line problem. This problem usually can not be fixed, It is necessary to replace the LCD panel. Though sometimes some lines disappear when you do some pressure round the egde where starts the line. To replace the LCD panel is usually as expensive as 80% of the Total price of the Device.

My tv is 6 mos. old. 46" mitsubishi. vertical lines on flat panel. mitsubishi impossible to deal with. won't honor warranty without sales receipt.

THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE UNFORTUNATELY WITH SOME 46 INCH MODELS OF MITSUBISHI. YOUR LCD PANEL (MOST MAJOR PART IN TV) IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE WARRANTIED FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS.
IT MAY BE ONE OF THE REASONS THEY ARE RESISTING...OOPS I MEAN REQUIRING PROOF OF PURCHASE. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE I HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF TIMES NOW.
HOPE THIS HELPS

Your correct, LCD's don't burn. This sounds like a defective main control module. I would take it in as soon as possible to have it looked at.

Parallel vertical lines through left side of Panasonic Plasma tv

This sounds like one of the driver boards at the bottom or top of the screen has an intermittent fault. The set will have to be taken in to a service centre.

Vertical green line on screen

If your set is a plasma, this can be one of two problems : either there is a loose connection (one of many, many connections) between the plasma screen and the driver board, or one of the transistor devices has blown. Try GENTLY applying pressure to the opposite ends of the TV to give it a subtle "twist" (please be careful!). Sometimes moving the set to a different location will produce the same effect. If it's still under warranty, call your dealer. Vertical stripes are a common fault with plasma technology I'm afraid! :-( Next time, go for LCD!
