I recently turned on my 46 in. Mitsubishi LCD, and it has a green vertical line approximately 1/8 of an inch thick about 3 inches from the left edge of the screen. Over the course of about 3 minutes it fades and disappears. I am concerned that one of these days the line will not disappear. Anyone have any idea what may be causing the line to appear. The digital board in the television has gone out, and been replaced twice in the 10 months I have had the television as well. The repairman that replaced it both times said that he had no idea what would cause the board to go out, but it must be something.

Hi. I am sorry to tell you that your LCD screen has finished its usefull lifetime. This is a typical pixel-line problem. This problem usually can not be fixed, It is necessary to replace the LCD panel. Though sometimes some lines disappear when you do some pressure round the egde where starts the line. To replace the LCD panel is usually as expensive as 80% of the Total price of the Device.
THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE UNFORTUNATELY WITH SOME 46 INCH MODELS OF MITSUBISHI. YOUR LCD PANEL (MOST MAJOR PART IN TV) IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE WARRANTIED FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. IT MAY BE ONE OF THE REASONS THEY ARE RESISTING...OOPS I MEAN REQUIRING PROOF OF PURCHASE. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE I HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF TIMES NOW. HOPE THIS HELPS
Honestly you have a big problem because the driver IC & Tape Carrier Package inside controller board at vertical area are damage or itself defective could cause you have 2 inches line appear in your display. The best solutions for this replace lcd panel to fix vertical line.
If your set is a plasma, this can be one of two problems : either there is a loose connection (one of many, many connections) between the plasma screen and the driver board, or one of the transistor devices has blown. Try GENTLY applying pressure to the opposite ends of the TV to give it a subtle "twist" (please be careful!). Sometimes moving the set to a different location will produce the same effect. If it's still under warranty, call your dealer. Vertical stripes are a common fault with plasma technology I'm afraid! :-( Next time, go for LCD!
