That means your Ac charger is bad so you have to look for another charger of thesame specification voltages and use

Instead of spending alot of time trying to do something that could potentially harm your laptop..why not just buy a power supply?

You can get one here Click here for about 16 dollars. That's a great deal they are usually about $60 and its a Dell brand not some off brand.

uninstall any energy management software provided by dell and then check.if the issue is not resolved then the issue is with the converter board as it is heating up.

SOURCE: Acer 5100 laptop doesn't work on ac or charger battery

Motherboard is bad and will have to be replaced unless of course the AC Jack on the back of the laptop is loose. That would cause the ac adapter not to charge and then you would have to take the motherboard out and put solder on each leg on the bottom of the ac jack to make sure it stays in place then the ac adapter can charge the battery properly.

Even going thru the solder method the motherboard could still be bad and have nothing to do with the ac jack.

The charger is defective. I would not try to charge it externally because if you charge it with a higher rate of current (amperage) than the original charger, it could explode or leak.

Rv510 plugged in but no lights on my laptop

You need to check all of these: 1. External charger, 2. Battery, 3. Internal charger, 4. Software. First, check if the battery is fully charge (or more than 80% charged). Second, use a tested good working battery charger/ac adapter to test your ac adapter (go to local electronic stores and test your laptop with their ac adapters). Third (if your ac adapter and your battery are good), then check your Power Options (click Help and search "power option" if you don't know where it is). If the Power Options is ok, then your motherboard (internal charger) has a problem. You need to bring your laptop to trusted local laptop repair shop.

del recognition circuit may have failed in charger , or could be fine central pin on charger plug or laptop plug has broken connection,it is used to tell laptop that this is genuine dell charger. If you remove battery will laptop work off charger.if does then definitely one of the three problem possible . for first only soln try another dell charger first, often has to be one to suit your model ,common dell problem ,if then work and charge battery ,you will need to replace charger as recognition circuit failed. If either of last 2 can repair but need to pull apart repair broken connection ,or open up laptop and check power connection and repair connection . Ac keeps shutting

Hi,
Remove the battery and plug in the AC adapter. If you can not power on the laptop, your AC adapter has gone bad on you and will need to be replaced.

If it will turn on with the AC adapter, place the battery while the laptop is on. See if it registers the battery as charging in the task bar. If not, there may be something wrong with the battery or the components connecting to the battery within the laptop.
Also you can below steps to check:
1) take the battery out of your laptop and the laptop charger
2) plug your laptop charger in your laptop without the battery in it,
3) Try to turn it on the normal way:
If it turns on, then your battery has gone, (Its drained and run out of use like all batteries do)
if it stays off then its a charger problem
You would want to hope its a charger problem as they are cheap and easily replaceable
Hope i helped
I guess its a charger problem because its not turning on and the laptop automatically would use the charger as a main power supply if the battery doesn't work
and oh by the way
If the battery isn't in it, your laptop will act as a pc whereas if you plug the charger in it will work, but if you take it out while the laptop is on then it will go off instantly without a successful shutdown which could mean a loss of work

My computer shuts down when i plug in the charger

Assuming this AC laptop charger functioned correctly at one time. Several Possibilities: (1) laptop charger has failed ... connect another compatible charger to your computer to test for this; (2) or the battery has failed ... remove battery and test if the charger plugged in directly powers the laptop.

Your laptop still not charge even with the battery removed?
I guess you need a new adapter. Or you can test with a known working adapter first.

Have an inspiron notebook 1150... hasnt been used in a while. Computer will not power on. Charging plug indicator shows it is working, but none of the lights on the front are illuminated. No power at all....

Try pulling the battery and powering it on - could be that. In response to your master reset button question - the answer is no, there is not one for this laptop. It also could be an issue w/ the connector between the power cable and the laptop - also, make sure you're using the proper AC adapter provided by dell when you purchased the laptop.

Hope this helps - good luck!

Battery problem...

This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities. 1.- Computer AC / DC cable is bad not allowing the computer battery to charge.
2.- Battery is bad.
3.- Battery charger board is bad.

Solutions:
1.- Computer AC / DC cable is bad not allowing the computer battery to charge
Verify that the AC and or DC cable is not bad by testing the computer only with the power plug connected and the battery out of the laptop.
2.- Battery is bad
It is possible that if the power plug is good that the computer battery is bad. Leave the computer connected to the power with the battery connected in the computer for at least one hour; if the battery does not charge, consider having the battery and/or the laptop serviced or repaired.
If the computer and/or battery is not in warranty consider just replacing the battery as it is very likely that it is just a bad battery.
3.- Battery charger board is bad
If the battery has been replaced or an alternate battery from an alternate identical laptop does not work in the computer, it is likely that the power or charger board within the laptop is bad. It is recommended that the laptop be serviced or repaired.

This will fix your problem.
