Question about Epson Stylus Photo R2400 InkJet Printer
Hi I have an epson r2400 which if I'm completely honest I don't use that often and can go a few months between usages. I recently tried to use it to print borderless A4 prints, but it was dropping big ink smears about a inch long onto the paper everytime I printed. I wasted about 10 sheets trying different methods, running the cleaning cycle etc etc. I also opened up the printer and cleaned the ink pads at both ends, the 'wiper' and under the print head with cleaning fluid. I also removed the cartridges before cleaning all the cartridge nozzles and putting cleaning fluid through the head itself. Tried to print again, this time the quality was worse (now have vertical lines and it's streaky) and the ink splodges are still there - now worse. before it looked like the cyan was leaking - now it looks like magenta is too. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? I recently tried using a different brand of inks (dye not pigment) could this be causing the issue? Or is my print head dead? :( Any help appreciated!

Hi, one or two head cleans won't clear a clogged nozzle. Try doing 4 or 5 head cleans, wait about 10 hours for the ink to soften and do another 3 or 4 cleans with a nozzle check after each. You should see a gradual improvement in the nozzle checks. If there is no improvement then you need a head cleaning solution such as this one:
Others are available just try googling "inkjet head cleaning".
Note that head cleaning uses between 5 and ten percent of your ink cart's, if any are low on ink have some new ones ready. Hope this helps.
Please take a moment to rate this solution, thanks.
