Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Is it possible to change the on screen language of a Japanese Panasonic Viera? I don't read Japanese and am having trouble using the TV.

I read a response that you can go into the settings and change the language, but I need a step by step since I cannot read anything - including anything within the menu. I have the menu button found on the remote. The remote is a panasonic G Guide remote if that helps. It has a t-nave, Data, memory card, and menu buttons on the left hand side

As mentioned, there's no OK button - the button in the center of the wheel does not do anything. The menu button on the side brings up the menu, but it's a different menu. The second option is not the language.

ok press the OK button on the remote and the second option listed will be language by selecting that and scrolling you should see english come up. I have the user manual can email it if you would like. Here is what should come up when you press the ok button

  • Marc Lefkowitz Jan 10, 2013

I've seen that manual before but it didn't correspond to pressing the OK on my remote. The menu looked a bit different. There's no OK button - though I assume it's the one in the center of the wheel, but the menu button is actually on the left hand side bottom on the part that extends in a crescent moon type shape. I'm out of town for the next week and a half, so I will try when I return.

The button in the center of the wheel does nothing and pressing the menu brings up an entirely different menu than the one you showed in your reply. Any other ideas?

SOURCE: panasonic viera doesn't display computer correctly

I have had what is fundamentally the same problem. I have a desktop PC that I am plugging in to my Panasonic Viera TX-32LZD80. I am using DVI connection plugged in to HDMI port.

The solution is fairly simple; use the Menu button on the TV remote to get to the Main Menu for the TV and then select Setup which should be the fourth of four options. This will get you to the Setup Menu for the TV for the current channel. Look for the Picture Overscan option, it will very probably be set to On if you have the problem of %5 or so of display being missing on all sides.

Switch Picture Overscan to Off.

This immediately should solve your problem. A note of warning on this is that I suspected this was the problem but when I first looked at the Setup Menu I could not find the Picture Overscan option.

If you are unable to find the Picture Overscan option then trying fiddling with the Aspect settings. You will probably find it set to Auto. Switch it to 16:9 and you should find the Picture Overscan option will be available from the Setup Menu.

Hope it works for you.

Possible DRY Joints on the power board. Needs either an engineer or someone who knows how to check it.

SOURCE: Panasonic 32 inch LCD TV will not turn on-red light flashing

The number of flashes is an error code. Count the number of flash. It looks like one of the boards in your set is failing intermittently. Panasonic codes for a guide as a starting point. Exact board STILL has to be verified;
One Blink: One blink of the power LED indicates a problem in the inverter circuit located on the LCD panel. The inverter board is not to be repaired in the field. Therefore a replacement is required.
Three Blinks: Three blinks of the power LED indicates an over-current or over-voltage condition in one of the DC supplies of the AP board. The AP board is repairable. Therefore the use of an ohmmeter and peak-hold-voltmeter is required to determine the cause of the shutdown. An over-voltage condition is definitely a defect of the AP board. An over-current condition may be due to a short circuit located in the AP board, A board, or the LCD panel.
Five, Seven, or Eight Blinks: The A board is responsible for five, seven or eight blinks of the power LED. The MAIN +3.3V, MAIN +5V, and MAIN +9V sources are all produced on the A board. The detection input pins of the MPU, IC1100, monitor for their presence.
Four or Six Blinks: The AP board is responsible for four or six blinks of the power LED. The DTV9V, and SUB_5V sources are produced on the AP board. The MPU IC1100 monitors for their presence when the unit is connected to AC Power. A short or open circuit on the A board may also be responsible for their absence.
Nine Blinks: Nine blinks of the power LED is due a short circuit in the audio output circuit (s) of the unit. The audio output circuit is located on the A board. Confirm the status of the speakers. If defective, perform a replacement. If ok, replace the A board.
Ten Blinks: Ten blinks of the power LED indicates a malfunction of IC4200, the frame converter. This IC resides on the A board. Therefore ten blinks of the power LED requires the replacement of the A board.

Hi:
You will need to count the number of red led blinks on the power indicator, if it is at least 10 then replace the power supply it is faulty, In my years of servicing panasonic Plasma, power supply failure is about the most common failue in this class of television from this manufacture.

How can I change the language on the panasonic strada cn-dv255rd GPS from japanese to english?

suspect you may have acquired a Japanese (-and-Korean-and-perhaps-Chinese) -language-only model.
But in any case, language changing is usually the first screen on initial setup. If you get a screen of language with two buttons, on the lower left and on the lower right, you probably should select the left-hand button, then select one of (possibly three) languages. English being prodominant, the left-most button of three would be one to choose, if you have a model that can be set to English at all.
The initial setup screen with language choices, will probably be what you get once you reset the device to factory settings.

Hello Everyone . Can you help me how to change from japanese to english language my Panasonic DMC S2 Lumix . the problem is I cant read japanese . Thats why I dont know how to use my camera .

If your camera ever had any menu in English, you can find in the manual (still online) how to switch the language. Could take a while to see how may times you have to click, but can be done. If your camera never was in any other language, you could have a Japanese version. These come with only one language, so the can't be changed. Could be possible you can't even put an eventually brought out firmware update, with all languages.

Install english Windows XP on Japanese Panasonic CF-Y7. Simply insert OS CD and reboot does not help. Computer does not read CD.

The BIOS is probably configured to look for a bootable operating system on the hard drive before it looks at the CD drive. When you first turn on the computer, you have to hit a particular key to enter the BIOS setup (I don't know what it is for your model, but for most of the Japanese models I've seen it's the delete key. The startup splash screen should tell you what key it is. You have to hit the key before the splash screen goes away, otherwise it's already booting up from the hard drive.
Once you get into the BIOS, you can select the boot option page and move the CD drive up above the hard drive in boot priority. If the OS is in the Japanese language, the BIOS text may also be in Japanese. You can probably download an English-language BIOS firmware update to change that.

Hello; If there is a black box covering part of the picture, it is likely a " TEXT " box that is used with " closed captioning " Read your owner's manual to see how to TURN OFF all closed captioning functions. Download the manual if you don't have one. John

I can't change from Japanese to French. Please, show me how . Thank you

To change the language to French;
  • Press TOOLS (The spanner symbol on the bottom right corner of the screen which shows WHERE TO and VIEW MAP) This may take some trial and error if you don't speak Japanese but should be possible)
  • Press SETTINGS (The spanner icon) or LOCALE (the blue icon) on some models that don't have a settings menu)
  • Press LANGUAGE (the lips icon)
This brings you to a screen with 3 items; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD. Press each one in turn and select Francais. With the VOICE setting you may have to select a name rather than Francais. If so select the name of a person from a French speaking country.

I hope this solves your problem.

How can I type Japanese o keybord?

Hai ! This is possible : )

Type in Chinese, Japanese, and other character-based languages

To type text on your computer in character-based languages, such as Chinese and Japanese, follow these steps:

[Source: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Type-in-Chinese-Japanese-and-other-character-based-languages]

  1. Add the language as an input language. If you want to use an input method editor (IME), make sure you select it when you add the input language. For more information, see Add an input language.
    Add an input language

You can edit documents in multiple languages by changing the language (the input language) in which you type. Input languages are included with Windows, but you need to add them to your list of languages before you can use them.

    1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

    2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.

    3. Under Installed services, click Add.

    4. Double-click the language you want to add, double-click the text services you want to add, select the text services options you want to add, and then click OK.

  1. Change your input language to the language you installed. For more information, see Change your input language.

Change your input language

The input language is a setting in Windows that controls the language you use to type information on your computer. Before you can change an input language, you need to add that language to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.
To change the input language

Click the Input language button on the Language bar, and then click the input language you want to use.

If you don't see the Language bar, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars, and then click Language bar.

  1. Change your keyboard layout to the desired layout. For more information, see Change your keyboard layout.

Change your keyboard layout

You can customize your keyboard for a specific language or format by changing the keyboard layout. The layout controls which characters appear on the screen when you press the keys on your keyboard. Some input languages have several keyboard layouts; others have only one. For example, you can change your keyboard layout from the English QWERTY format to the English Dvorak format. After you change the layout, the characters on your screen might not correspond to the characters on your keyboard keys.

Before you can change the keyboard layout, you must add the input language and keyboard layout that you want to use to Windows. For more information, see Add an input language.

TIP:
After you are done you can switch between Japanese and English very easily by manually pressing the on screen buttons or using keyboard commands like SHIFT+ALT to switch between Japanese (???) and the Alphabet.
