I have a 1000w amp but it got burned why??

Hello,

I'm sorry but your problem was a little confusing. Your speakers worked fine, you hooked up a 1000W amp and now you cant hear the sound ?

Then you say "they say because the wires were connected wrong in the amp it burned" does that mean your amp burnt out ?

Please post back and sort these facts out for further assistance.
As of right now im not sure if the problem is with the speakers or the amp itself.

Bought a Alpine PDX1.1000. 1 - 8v issue

Hello rsnyder_223,

As long as the gain is adjusted properly for the input, there should be no problems with the amp.

The head unit preamp output is probably a little low or there is too much voltage drop on the RCA's. It doesn't take much of a drop when you are working with such a low level to begin with. That's one reason that Alpine gives you the option to select an input level.

It's also possible that the input sensitivity of the Alpine is slightly high. Electronic components usually have a nominal value and their actual value can range up to 20% from that nominal. But again, you have a gain adjustment to insure that the amp is not overdriven. Make sure that it's set so there's no distortion and you should be OK.

Hope this helps.

Amplifier wont move subs

I dont know if this will help you but start at the deck and make sure that the outputs(RCA) arent crossed over to highpass and do the same at the amp make sure that its set for lowpass- set half gain -bass boost half gain- subsonic minimum - If that doesnt help try using an i pod with an adaptor that you can play it right into the amp this is to see if you are getting signal from the deck to the amp if it doesnt work with an i pod or mp3 plugged directly into it then you may have got you a blown amp going on- good luck with that

Can't get my amplifier to work.

My homie had the same problem with his escalade they adapted an rca line adapter from the factory wiring to geta signal to his amplifier and it just wasnt hitting like it should so we installed a new deck and plugged the rca cords right into it and boomboom pow it was hittin like a champ-we figured that the stock premium system that was incoprporated into the truck had some sort of an onboard amp that was filtering the bass from the door speakers and which was limiting the bass output to the rca adapter and thus on down the line to the amplifier- so maybe ya might want to look into getting an aftermarket deck and see if that helps your cause-good luck

I NEED a new RADIO!!!

Hello geralyn_mart,

I know what you mean. And then when you find what you like, you find out that it won't fit, it's not in stock, or the price just went up.

My recommendation is that you decide exactly what features you want in a new head unit and then browse Crutchfield's web site for what fits your vehicle. Currently they list 175 receivers ranging in price from $49.99 to $1,799.99. Another good online resource is SonicElectronix. They have nearly everything you want in car audio and their prices are better than you will find at Crutchfield. But their shipping is much higher if you are anywhere east of the Mississippi, it's slower, and their service just isn't as good as Crutchfield's.

Personally, I like Alpine, JVC, and Kenwood. Others may be partial to Pioneer or Sony. Any of these will be an improvement over a stock OEM radio and offer an output for your Rockford-Fosgate amp. My choice for a good basic receiver with CD and a few "must have" features would be the Alpine CDA-105. Or, for under $100, choose the JVC KD-PDR30. It still has preamp outputs and has an AUX input on the front so you plug in your MP3 player or iPod.

One nice thing about Crutchfield is the "Outfit my car" feature. It will tell you what fits and what modifications are needed if it isn't an exact fit. Also, If you are a first-time purchaser from Crutchfield, your order is at least $200, and you use a "friend referral code", such as mine, which is p7sdj-hrx8q-9800, you will get a $20 discount.

Hope this helps.

Car amp wont turn on

I'll assume that you've checked the amplifier's on-board fuses.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.
