Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a fisher and paykel model 920 dishwasher. We went on holiday for a week and since then i have an alarm buzzer sounding intermittently and the display on the control panel keeps jumping

I have tried switching it off for a few minutes and back on, the machine works but I don't know when it is finished as the time display changes intermittently.

Possible there is MOISTURE within the unit or there can be cases in which some insects has clogged into the circuit board. You can open the panel board to check this out and even if there is no indication you can switch on the panel supply continuously for 24 hours. In most cases when the board warms up this fault could vanish off as it can also be due to lowering of some capacitor values within the board .

SOURCE: dishwasher f1 problem on fisher paykel

All the information that I have found about this particular problem indicates that the "F1" error is a flood or overflow alarm. It's generally caused by a clog in the drain line and/or tub not sealing properly when closed.

If this is a drawer style dishwasher there is a lid in the equipment cabinet that must seat properly on the drawer when it is closed. If you place items in the dishwasher that are too tall for the drawer lid to seat properly, it will not seal and water will splash over the sides of the tub during the wash cycle.

Another common problem is a clogged or kinked drain line. Remove the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged. Check it at BOTH ends.

The alarm is activated by a float switch in the bottom tray of the dishwasher. Look to see if this is any standing water in the bottom tray. If there is any water, or signs of wetness, the alarm will not clear until it is dried out. I found a couple of recommendations to clear the alarm. The first involved removing the dishwasher from where it is installed and tilting it at a 45 degree angle to pour any standing water out. Another method is to dry the bottom out with towels as best you can, and then use a hair dryer to dry any residual water. I hope I'm on the right track with this and I hope this solves your problem. Post back if you have any further questions.

CAUTION: UNPLUG the dishwasher or turn off the breaker BEFORE servicing inside the cabinet.

SOURCE: I have a Fisher Paykel

just had the same F1 error message. I figured the drain lines were clogged so i hooked my compressor up to them and blew air in the lines for about 5 seconds at 60 psi. It is not giving me the error message anymore and seems to be running fine.

Hi - unfortunately my good friend it cannot be reset as one would like quite easily anyhow... water has found its way to the base of the drwaers and have activated the flooding switch - one could pull it apart to dry it - tip the water out from the base but if the leaks not repaired you will have the same problem later and will be on-going.

The U1 code means:-

lower setting or wipe the spill. Incorrect detergent. Ensure that you use a detergent that is intended for a domestic automatic dishwasher. Egg yolk. Place an extra tablespoon of detergent in the dishwasher door for pre-rinsing.
Too much detergent. Use the recommended quantity of detergent
