Carrier had a recall years ago on the HK42fz004 & I believe the 008 models because of intermittent problems like yours. Sounds like you need a new board

3 amp fuse blows when call for gas after pilot runs for 30 seconds

check the blower motor for seized of burnt out. Fuses blow because of excess current draw and in this case if the fan is not starting everything will stop. The gas will be set so that if the fan is not running the gas will not be allowed to turn on

A certain sequence of events has to occur to start normal operation. My furnace would start the stack blower which would then run forever without the furnace starting up. The service tech replaced the stack blower controller and the ignitor to get things running right again. Remember that some stages of startup are temperature dependent. For example, the burner has to heat the bonnet enough to close a thermal switch and turn on the main.blower.

My Payne furnace is NOT producing the desired heat anymore. Any ideas?

Hello, it could be shutting down on it's high limit switch due to a dirty air filter, dirty blower wheel, weak blower motor. Usually this would cause the furnace to shut down before it reaches the desired temp.

I have a Payne gas furnace that is 23 years old. The unit ignites, blower motor runs for 3-4 minutes, shuts down, comes back on for 10-15 seconds turns off and comes back on for 10-15 seconds- any help?

You have a bad fan limit switch find the one that looks like yours and has the same length tube on it and after that there all universal its real simple to replace just 4 wires 2 low voltage on the limit side and 2 high voltage on the fan side instructions will come with. To remove the old one just take off cover remove screws and wires and pull it out where the wires connect you will see little metal slots above or below the wire just push it in with a little screw driver and pull the wire out. Here is a link to a web site I buy parts from. Their real fair on price and fast with ship

Hope this helps.......

Furnace blower does not turn on

Pat, look for any way to add a few drops of 3-in-1 electric motor oil to the shaft ends. You may find a few small plastic removable plugs where you can drop a few drops into. Get the numbers off the oval shaped capacitor and replace it as soon as possible. Inspect all wires and sand all contacts one at a time to make sure wires go back on original spades. If it continues, you may need to replace the fan relay. Good luck to you!

Furnace runs OK, but blower runs again a few seconds later

Could be a defective thermostat in the plenum.
When a gas furnace shuts down the fan(blower) will run until the plenum cools to the safe range. Usually 1 and 1/2 minutes.
Intermittent operation is a defective thermostat or relay.

Gas furnace wont stay lite

I'm a little confused by your terminology. You are saying you have a pilot lite and electric heat strips? Are you possibly meaning burners? Is the heater running for 2 hours straight without shutting off? how cold is it there? Lastly what temperature do you have the thermostat set at and how close does it get to the temp. before it shuts off?
