SOURCE: New Printer will not go past "Please wait..."

what you need to do is to remove the inks and the printhead again and then install it. You just put the printhead improperly. Then once you have cleared the error connect it to your computer and upgrade the firmware by going to www.kodak.com/go/downloads

SOURCE: need to replace ink cartridges and the printhead

I have a kodak esp 5200 and just replaced the color cartridge. All you have to do is go to your little panel and go to maintenance. Scroll down to change ink cartridges and it will tell you to open the cover and replace the cartridge. I didn't know how either and just tried a few things. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My Kodak ESP 5, all

Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.

If the error remains after you had removed cartridges, removed the printer head, cleaned its contacts and reconnected it. then the printer head would need to be replaced most likely. If the problem remains with a new printer head the printer is faulty and you can not fix it yourself. If you are in warranty get in touch with kodak to get the machine repaired.

The new printer head costs around 40 to 80 $

Please let me know if you require further assistance or if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Ekse

Even after reinstalling printhead an ink cartridges on Kodakhero 5.1 printer, I still get the error message that the printhead is loose, missing, or not properly installed. What do I do?

Most likely this is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

(1) Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. If for some reason it does not follow these instructions:
(a) Unplug the printer
(b) Manually slide the carriage over until you can get the ink cartridges out.
(2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in isopropyl alcohol or hot water or a mix of hot water and isopropyl alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
(6) Try to print something now

If that does not work, then you need to try soaking the print head. In this case:
(1) Remove the print head from the printer
(2) Soak it in hot water for an hour or so
(3) Remove it, let it dry completely
(4) Replace the print head and cartridges and test it

I have just put new ink cartridges into my Kodak ESP 3 printer and I have recieved the message that the printhead is missing or not installed properly. I have taken out the printhead and put it back in but...

Hi

Try to clean the print head manually until ink flows. Rub the print head into a plain paper with rubbing alcohol until in flows. Then try to print again.

Clean also the contact point of the ink cartridge by a cotton swab to clean some dirty on it and try to plug back ink cartridge again.

Try this solution also,
Remove the USB cable into the printer and leave the printer on.
Remove all the cartridges.
Close the cartridge door and wait for the INSERT INK MESSAGE to appear.
Disconnect the power cable and from the power source supply.
Move the carriage using your hand from the original position to the other side of the printer and then move it back to original position. Wait for couple of minutes
Reconnect power cord and turn on the printer.
Return all the ink cartridges and close the door. Wait for the calibration process.
Print the test page to check if it working.
Reconnect the USB cable and try to print again.

If still not working, maybe the ink cartridge is defective. If under warranty, return it for free replacement.

Please rate and make a comment if you find this solution very helpful and might help others as well. Post more comments if you need more help.

Regards and thank you for using Fixya !

My large black ink cartridge with not print correctly on my Canon Pixma MP830. All the other colors work fine. I've done numerous cleaning and deep cleaning. Then replaced the cartridge and it still prints...

Are your black ink cartridges genuine Canon ones?
Are the contacts clean when you remove the cartridge?
If not blow off with compressed air and a clean brush, if necessary.

Canon.com's site covers the verification that the cartridges are installed correctly below:

Issue: Black ink does not print
Solution: Confirm that the recommended ink tanks are installed properly MP800R / MP830

Replacing an ink tank When replacing the ink tanks, confirm that the new ink tanks are installed properly. If the ink tanks are not locked into place, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be supplied to the print head. Recommended Ink Tanks:
mp500_supported_inks.jpg
  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on and press the Open button. (The paper output tray will open.)

    mp500_openbutton.gif

  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)

    mp500_scanningunit_open.gif

    Note:
When the scanning unit (printer cover) is opened more than ten minutes, the print head moves to the right side. If this occurs, close the scanning unit (printer cover), and open it again.

  3. Open the inner cover.

  4. Press on the tab to release the ink tank, then remove it from its slot. If you are replacing multiple ink tanks, make sure to replace one by one.

  5. Check the ink tank. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure <1>, it is properly removed. If the tape is not removed (as in figure <2>, pleease remove the extra tape).

  6. Insert the ink tanks into the print head.

    Note:
Press the mark "PUSH" on the ink tank firmly until you hear a click.

  7. Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red.

<7> The ink tanks are installed properly.
<8> The ink tanks are not installed properly.

    Note:
    Ink Tank Lamp
You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.

    • - On: The printer is ready to print.
    • - Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
    • - Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
    • - Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.

  8. Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).

    Note:

    1. When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam your finger.

    2. When starting printing next time, the print head cleaning launches automatically.

Will not print . machine tries to engage cartridges no succes checked that cartridges are installed correctly. model D2360.

Remove the ink, turn off the printer, turn on the printer after several seconds, wait for the printer to cycle and give you a "no ink" error light. Open the lid of the printer. Wait for the print head to position itself, then install your ink and close the lid.

Many people ram the ink in before the printer does that last cycle; it can lock the printer, cause an error, or in a worst case scenario it can strip the gears on the head permanently damaging the printer.
