Turned off circuit breaker and serviceman coming. A piece of toast caught small fire inside oven, and I suspect the temp. rose too high and now oven won't turn off either when plugged on. Thanks anyway.

SOURCE: GE oven functional code F1 appears.

Hello, I come across this problem quite often, The f1 error code does not always follow that it is a bad EOC (Electronic oven control) This could also be a problem with the touchpad. The way to figure which is bad is turn electric off, access the EOC and pull the wire harness/ribbon tape for the touch pad. Reassemble the range and switch power back on. If you are still getting the F1 it is the EOC..If the F1 clears then your problem is with the Touchpad. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!! Mike

The F1 alarm is beeping.....what does this mean? Thank you!

The "F1" fault code implies a faulty oven temperature sensor. In order to diagnose which will require disconnecting the oven temperature sensor from inside the oven cavity and measuring the resistance using an ohm meter. The oven temperature sensor probe should measure approximately 1100 ohms at room temperature.
Here is the temp. sensor to order.

Mer6772bas ovens won't work, bottom oven won't open

F1-4 is a lower oven runaway clean error F9-3 is a lower oven door latch failure. Must be a bad door latch causing the errors.

What do i do about an F1 alarm that won't quit??????

Hello there:
this annoying alarm and the f1 code is reffering to the
F1 1. Watchdog on board
2. Touch membrane defective To determine which component is at fault, you will need to remove the back panel that houses the electronic control unit then disconnect ribbon strip. going to it and retry the oven If NO fault code, replace membrane, otherwise replace board

I have a maytag oven with f1 and f3 codes what

F1 fault code: You have either a bad ERC (clock) or a bad touch pad.
  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
NOTE: Some models incorporate the touch pad and the clock as one part.
F3: Open or shorted sensor. The cancel key resets the control and stops the alarm. If fault is still present it will reactivate the alarm when the cook mode is chosen. Correction: Check sensor and wiring for shorted or open circuit.

Trying to set oven temp. F-7 and F-1 keep appearing and sounding an alarm. oven does heat up but will not stay heated without the above code and alarm. PLEASE HELP!!

F7 usually means a stuck key on the keypad. I've also seen it caused by a greasey buildup on the keypad connector into the control board. Try pressing each button on the keypad followed by cancel. See if the buttons are registering with the control - should get a beep or some function (execpt up/down buttons need a cook or time function enabled first). If one of the buttons seems inoperative it may be stuck, in which case you probably need a new keypad.

F1 is usually caused by a failure in the control board and is a common problem that we repair on these boards. If you shut the power off for a few minutes, turn it back on and enter a cooking mode before F1 appears (after reset is finished) then you can cook. This doesn't fix F1, just allows you to work around it in an emergency.

We'd be happy to repair your oven controller for you.

Regards,
Bruce

depends on the brand, most of the time its an erc (electronic range control) this can be replaced. find a appliance store near you, give them the model and ask for the price and availability of an erc. If satisfied call a tech. If a tech installs it you have a warranty... get the picture?
