Question about LG LFX25960ST Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator

2 Answers

Original lamps producing excessive heat.

We purchased our LG LFX25960ST back in 2006 and has worked fine until this most recent problem. Last week my wife opened the fridge door and the plastic bezel that covers the fridge lamps just fell down. When replacing the bezel it would not pop back in place. Upon further inspection we noticed that the bezel and surrounding components have started to melt due to excessive heat. The heat is so intense we detected a burning odor. These are the original lamps that came with the fridge. Has anyone else had this problem. I removed one of the lamps for now just to reduce the heat intensity. Has anyone one out there had a similar problem?

There is a recall for that problem you need to contact LG and they will send a repair kit for your refrig. it should be repaired at no cost but be sure to ask them.

I also have had the lense warp and fall out some time ago. I have an extended warranty and got a new lense. I mentioned this particular problem to a tech recently and he told me that LG has come out with a new lighting unit that no longer uses a timer to shut off the light, but a temperature sensor. I also replaced the lamps with 40 watt appliance lamps (same physical size) as those that came with the refrigerator which are 60 watt according to the tech. My lighting unit has NOT been replaced with the newer temperature controlled rather than timer controlled switch. I don't know when or why my interior lights stayed on long enough to melt the plastic. Since I still have the extended warranty, I may push for having the lighting unit replaced.

Yes, if bulb was low price and was installed in old lamp casing then it is bulb that is not good and creating too much heat that exhaust fan can't throw out to make projector cool enough so temp sensor activates and send over heat signal to system control chip thus projector shuts down.
Please install original lamp that comes with casing to solve this issue.
If lamp was original then check exhaust fan that might be running slowly due to stiffness in bearing so temp sensor finds over temp in projector.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

Sounds like you need to replace your lamp and the tv will work fine until the new lamp goes out. I have had three lamps since Nov 2006 in mine and I have a notice coming up on my Panasonic saying I need to change the lamp right now. Which is strange, because before there was no warning, it worked fine and then when we went to turn it on again, it just did not work until the lamp was replaced.
