Question about Amana ARGS7650SS Gas Kitchen Range

Open Question

The electric control panel on my Amana ARGS7650SS in pushed in in the lower middle area and will not function properly. The clock works, but the oven will not turn on and the timer doesn't functio

It seems like the panel might just need to be re-attached from the inside, but getting the stove disassembled looks like a lot of work. If I need a new panel, I'd rather have it ready to go, so that I don't end up with a non-functioning stove while I wait for a part. The top burners all work fine. In fact, we had just made a roast, turned of the oven, and then realized it was not quite done, but the oven would not turn on. We waited overnight to let the oven cool completely and tried again, but still nothing.

This is Amana's fault and is common on several oven models and types.
Your timer and clock control board has some loose solder joints and they can be re-attached by any competent electrical repair shop with soldering skills. TV shops can often be convinced to do this for you for a nominal fee.

Something else you can check while it's preheating: a few drops of cooking oil on the bottom of the oven will tell you if your lower element ("bake") is functioning at all. If it's working, you will get smoke during pre-heat (turn it off!!), if it's not - the problem *can be* in the relay board. Does your "Broil" function work ok.? if it does, then chances are your ERC (electronic range control - the main board that controls all functions) is fine, and the problem is now MOST likely in the relay board. The lower "Bake" element does most of the work in the oven - if the oil trick doesn't give you some smoke, let a tech know that the lower element is not functioning. That will help narrow down the troubleshooting scope.!

The dial that indicates the temperature setting on the fan oven has come detatched. As you turn the dial it remains still with just the 120 showing. How do I remove the panel to get to the dial, please?

The three controls for the oven and grill just pull off. They have flats on them to ensure they go back on the right way.

There are three screws on the underside of the panel. One at each end and one in the middle. Remove those remembering how they went.

The clock buttons just push fit into the panel and just rest on the clock controls, so you needn't do anything with them.

The panel should now be loose. What you have to do is to raise the lower edge of the panel up to unhook the panel extensions on the top inner edge of the panel that hook into the cooker and then the panel comes off. A word of warning here. Turn the power off before you start and you may have difficulty getting the panel back properly like I did. The hooks by the clock didn't want to play ball, so I left them unhooked.

Best of luck. If you need a copy of the handbook, supply an email address for a copy via my BT Digital Vault.

The oven will not completely heat

Try a few drops of vegetable oil on the lower pan of the oven, and turn it on. If you do not get smoke during pre-heat, chances are your lower element is not working properly. If you DO get copious amounts of smoke off the pan, the problem could be with the temperature sensor.

If your lower element is not functioning, and if your broil function works just fine, the problem may be isolated to the relay control board. (relay K4 controls half of the 240V required to run the Bake element correctly)

Whirpool model# RF385PXGN (electric) error code F2 E0 The failure/error display codes says replace control. What is control ?

F2-E0 - Shorted Touch Pad (Keypad) - Check the connection between the touch pad (keypad) and control board (clock) to make sure it is secure.
Select the 'cancel' function and wait 60 seconds.
If error code reappears then replace the touch pad, or touch pad and control board (clock) if all one assembly.

Amana ARGS7650 Keypad has no power

I had the same problem, same model. The electronic panel has to be replaced. This part is ~$215 before tax and shipping. With labor, I was looking at over $400. I bought a 4 yr old used GE gas oven for $75. That was my solution.

I believe the part to replace is labeled Erciii, gas

Part Number: AP4041311 made by WHIRLPOOL
This would have taken at least a week to ship (no one seems to have them in stock).

From now on, I will never own a range in which the oven or stovetop controls are electronic. Knobs and associated mechanics can be replaced MUCH more easily and cheaply!
