Question about Intel Motherboard

1 Answer

Won't turn on most times

I have a dell 4600, 2.66, 512Ram. It has a E210882 motherboard. When I try to turn it on nothing happens. After sitting for an hour or two I will push the pwr button and it will come on, sometimes. Turn it off and your are never certain when you will get it run again.Temperarily hooked up a new power supply and it didn't help. What component would cause this behavior and how could I repair it???

It won't turn on after not being on for days cold as a cucumber. Once it turns on runs fine doesn't shut itself down.

CPU overheating ,goes out on thermo overload. Comes back on after cooling. Check and reseat CPU with new paste. Clean CPU fan and heat sink. Insure enough volume of air through case.

Ethernet Controller

Hi

E210882 is a number found on more than one Dell System Board. Dimension 8400 and 4600 come to mind. Possibly there are more. Secondly, E210882 is not a Dell Part number (DP/N or DS/N). While Dimension 8400 is a 775 socket, Dimension 4600 is a 478 socket. So they don't fall to the same family.

In any case the network controllers used on Dell System Boards are Intel and Broadcom.

To proceed, at least provide/confirm the system model. If this is not available, give the Dell Part Number.

sounds like you need a new motherboard. Try to reset the bios with the jumper (or remove the battery and unplug it) and see if that does anything, if it doesn't start looking for a new mb.

Sometimes this problem happens when your CMOS battery already dead. Replace the CMOS battery and run F4 to setup the date and time. Save it and you back to business.
