Touchscreen not responding. Frozen

Two thing can cause this. If your unit is running firmware version 5.3, this version has a bug where the touchscreen will work for about 5 seconds then the unit will lock up. Updating the unit to version to version 5.4 will fix the problem. More info can be found here:

http://www.sharc.net/discus/messages/6/471.html?1337567850

http://www.sharc.net/discus/messages/6/469.html?1333569932

If you are running firmware version 4.9 or 5.4 and the touchscreen still does not respond, then the touchscreen will need to be replaced. On the Nuvi 7xx, the touchscreen may be soldered to the LCD display, so if you don't have any soldering experience, please have a professional replace the touchscreen. More info can be found here:

The screen on my Garmin Nuvi 200W won't respond. I tried the recalibration but the screen doesn't respond when I touch the dot. I also tried a hard reset and that didn't help either. Help please!

There is more than one calibration procedure, but for the 200 it is:
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} To recalibrate the touchscreen on your nuvi 200 follow the steps below:
  1. Have the unit turned OFF and unplugged from power.

  3. A message will display on the screen: Press Dot.
  4. Once this message displays, release the Power button.

  6. Keep pressing in the center of the Dot as it moves around the screen.
  7. Once this is complete, there will be a message: Calibration Complete.
