Thick red line at top of screen on LG plasma tv suddenly appeared

TV is nearly four years old. It is actually a LG 50PG60UR but that wasnt a selection recognised. It has today suddenly put up two thick mainly red, some yellow, lines at top of the screen.

SOURCE: Thick color lines on screen

Hi ,Sorry, this is not a solution. I have a question about your line. Is it transparent? (can you see through if the picture is bright)Does it remain there all the time if you change inputs? My LG 42" just had a blue transparent line appear on the right side of screen. Tried a few trouble shooting things w/ no change. About 1 hour later it went away. Did you find a solution and what was it?

SOURCE: 50" LG Plasma - Thin red vertical line in middle of screen

I work for a auth LG service center and each time I have had this symptom we had to either change what called the T_CON control board or the Plasma display panel itself. You need to cocntact LG @ 800-253-0000 report your problem and they will find a service center in your area you should have 1 year warranty parts and labor.

SOURCE: LG flat panel plasma with red line

I had the same problem and fixed it by replacing the control board. It's a little nerve wracking, but required only simple hand tools. If you'd like to see detailed pictures of the repair check out my blog.

SOURCE: hi i have a lg

Hi, you can try tightening the ribbon cables that run from the screen to the buffer board , only tighten the one near the line area. if this does not help you probably need a new buffer board or panel (screen)

Hello. My LG plasma 50pc3d has had red pixels jumping around whenever there is black on the screen, but has always cleared up. Today a vertical red line appeared, 1pixel thick, running from top to bottom....

Pixels on a plasma TV are from the zustain boards. You might have one or both of them about to go out. Horizontal lines are most likelly one of your buffers or the screen itself might be going bad. You can buy the sustain boards by part number that you can get from the board itself from www.interliquidparts.com

My 42" Vierra 1080 plasma

The pixels in the screen are commanded by a buffer board . This board connects to the screen with the help of a wide flat connector - in your case this command circuit appears to be faulty: either the buffer circuit is failing and the entire buffer board will have to be replaced ($250 part and labor from a pro) or the connection itself appears to be slightly out of line so when heated the contact is lost and the pixels get stuck (in that case the tv will have to be completely dismantled and all the contacts to the plasma panel reseated - $200 in labor).
Ask a quote around and select the cheapest repair shop you can find.

Hi, I've purchased a 2nd hand LG 42" Plasma TV set

Usually black lines in a flat panel indicate an error or problem in the video board. A service professional can hook up to the tv and better diagnose the issue.

Tv is about 4 years old. Suddenly developed two

Your plasma screen is made up of 1080 verticle lines and now a few of these lines are not working. This is the screen itself and needs replacing.
