Bring your laptop under sunlight. If you look very closely and can see your screen then your backlight went out. Otherwise there might be a loose/broken connection to your lcd.

When you say you pressed F8 did you keep pressing it until you got a menu saying Safe Mode,last known good configuration, start in VGA mode etc, if so use last known good configuration and let it reboot.
If still nothing then you will need the windows cd to perform a system repair.
over heated the video area in it will have to cheak video card inside or motherboard chips on it got to hot when u play games on labtops u must ua labtop cooler never set it on your bed
