Replaced dlp chip and now flashing yellow lamp light and tv won't turn on? any advice?

Tv is 5 years old.. i know i should replace but would rather fix. I replaced the bulb successfully 6 months ago and ordered a DLP chip to fix an occurring "white dot" problem. Followed the instructional video exact, and when turned on after replacing with new chip i had a blank lit screen (dark bluish) and static noise. so i took it apart again thinking i had not seated the chip properly... next time i turned on i got a flashing yellow lamp light and unit will not power on. Any suggestions?

this sounds silly but I had the same problem . due to heat and wear and tear. Make sure the vented air holes are not blocked by dust and the back of the TV is in a well ventilated area where air can circulate. You can use a paint brush and compressed air blowing the debri away from the inside circuitry.

Replaced DLP chip now yellow Lamp Light on the front of my Mitsubishi TV is flashing.

Look for the reset button behind the cover door in the center of the TV. It may only be a tiny hole that a paper clip will fit in. Turn off the TV, straighten a paper clip and insert it until you feel the reset button. Bush slightly and hold it in and then power up the TV. That should stop the lamp light indicator from flashing. Make sure the lamp is fully seated and the cover is firmly in place.

Why would lamp go bad after replacing chip?

Did you have to remove the lamp during the chip replacement? If so, did you physically touch the glass of the lamp with your skin? Oils from the skin can cause lamp failures due to hot spots that can form on the glass.

Replaced dlp chip

Kelly,

The yellow blinking light generally means that the lamp cover is open. You may have accidentally jarred the lamp while changing the DMD chip, and the lamp safety switch is not engaging. The first thing I would try would be to re-install the lamp and make sure the cover is on correctly. Let us know if that solves the problems. Thanks.

Yellow flashing light? Did you get any picture? Bet, not!
It means: your lamp door interlock is not engaged: did you forget to turn the locking knob? Did you install lamp compartment door? That might be the only issue. Lamp timer blinks 'red", while TV works normally. Reset the timer, it's gone, along with annoying message. Yellow means: interlock or thermal protection is off. Try to repeat lamp installation procedure. then, you'll find out your mistake. don't need to remove the lamp. It would be "red", if lamp won't fire up.
good luck,
Alex.

Replace your lamp. Your DLP set does not have Stk ic's in it. I don't know what expert told you that but I can assure you he has never worked on a TV. You can purchase the lamp from www.dlplamps.com

Please Help. I have a 56" DLP Samsung and the lights just flash

Sounds like the lamp might be burned out. The Lamp should be replaced every couple years. If they are not replaced they will eventually burn out. Replacement is not that difficult and just requires a screwdriver. The lamp is located at the back of the DLP TV on the left side. The lamp can be purchased online from Samsung for about $130 dollars. You might be able to find a aftermarket one for less. Just use your telivision's model number located on the right side of the TV on sticker to cross reference the bulb that is needed or there might be a sticker on the back at the lamp housing that has the lamp part number. And make sure to spend the extra money and get the Lamp with the housing together. You can buy just the lamp for cheaper but that will require you to remove the old lamp from the housing and they are fragile. Much easier installation with the housing/lamp combo.

DLP TV Samsung HLP4674w No Picture

If you hear a ticking and or buzzing sound as it is trying to start up then most likely the replacement lamp is bad. Take it out and reseat it one more time to see what happens. The noise you hear is the ballast attempting to fire the lamp up.
