Question about Magellan Roadmate 760 GPS Receiver
I have had my 760 since December and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! I use it a lot, even around town. I tried to use it the other day and it would not turn on. The power cord is lit, but the unit will not turn on. I'd be very disappointed if my unit is broken, as you know they are not cheap. Please advise. I have unplugged and replugged - nothing happens. I live in Florida... will the heat bother it?
I've got one that has a problem with the power connector. Look on the adapter thingy -- with a pin, wiggle the center power pin. If it is loose, this is the problem. Carefully use a knife to open the adapter thingy (it's glued together). Go to Radio Shack/Fry's and get a replacement power female socket that solders to the little PC board in the adapter thingy. This will fix it. Allen

Works great when it works. They are also know to freeze up. People have reported that it only works up to 6 months then it won't turn on. Even worse, tech support is few and far between and it seems nobody knows how to work on them. You can send it back to the manufacture to have it repaired under warranty, but don't look for it anytime soon. They will hold on to it for months. For me, I use a road map, It never stops working, and its always in the glovebox.
