Well, the suggestion of using a external keyboard is a good one and also the on screen keyboard also to make sure that it is not software issue. If same issue persists than you may want to try to re-seat the keyboard cable. On the bottom of your laptop the keyboard screws should be marked...

Enter key is not working as usual. instead it takes pictures of the screen

Does it work as normal (as a return key) when you are typing text say in a comment section like this one? If it is, you don't have a hardware fault, and probably temporarily, accidentally. assigned the Enter key to be a "Screen Capture" key in a running programme. Just reboot the PC, which should quite all running programmes, and alow the enter key to work as normal when the PC restarts.

On my Toshiba Satellite Laptop I have opened and started the computer but can't get past the sign in window because my enter key and space bar won't respond. I can type letters but can not enter...

> hardware problem or software or keyboard?

Experiment #1: turn the computer off. Connect a USB keyboard. Turn the computer on. Use that keyboard to try the 'TAB' key (to move from field-to-field). If TAB works, then try using the SPACE or ENTER keys.

Experiment #2: turn the computer off. Turn the computer on, and look for the message:

PRESS <blah> to ENTER BIOS SETUP

When you see the message, press the <blah> key. On the BIOS SETUP menus, try the ENTER key to "select" a field, to prove that the ENTER key works fine.

Experiment #3: Turn the computer off. Disconnect the AC power. Remove the battery.
Remove the disk-drive. Take the original CD/DVD disk, and start to install Windows to the disk-drive. As you work through the installation screens, you'll need to press ENTER at least once,
if only to acknowledge that installation cannot proceed, because the disk-drive is not connected.
If the ENTER key works, it works.

Experiment #4: Like #3, but connect a different, empty, disk-drive, and reinstall Windows.
If it completes, then your "original" setup has a SOFTWARE problem.

My enter key does not work by itself i have to use either the shift key or the fn key in order to use the enter key

the keyboards enter connector circuit is broken.
You need to change keyboard.
other option is that you connect a external keyboard to your laptop!
This will work! Please vote!!!

Nothing happens when I hit the ''enter'' key on my keyboard - can you help? I use a laptop with an external keyboard - the enter key on the actual laptop works as it should - but for some reason the enter...

If it is still dormant after you power everything down, you probably have not mistakenly hit something. There may be something physically wrong with the key. Try the keyboard on another computer. If the enter key works reliably there, you have quite a puzzle. But if it fails there as well, see whether the enter key moves as smoothly as the other keys. If it is a larger key, it may have an "equlaizer bar" to make it move smoothly that may have become detached. In that case, look at similar keys to figure out how to reassemble it properly. Also look for dirt of any kind under it or between it and nearby keys.

The enter key of my laptop sudden stopping working?

I would try getting some compressed air. Sometimes called canned air.

1915830-4u4zdtshcqwq1u3gjz1kqwnk-5-0.jpg Blow inside the keyboard, under and around the enter button and see if it helps. Do not hold the can upside down or sideways while spraying! It shoots out as ice and can hurt things further!

Forgot the code for kdc-mpv619, can you help reset the code?

This is the method for a very similar model and should work with yours. You must have the remote to do it, It will not work without the remote.

If this works for you I would really appreciate a "FixYa", if it does not work let me know and I will look up your model on Kenwoods service site tomorrow

The first step is not easy to understand. Press the display key first and keep it pressed in while you press the track up key at the same time and hold them both for 3 or more seconds. If that does not work, press the track up key first and then the display key

Simplified method of clearing the security
code (K, E Type only)
1. While the code entry is requested, press and hold the
TRACK UP key for 3 seconds while holding the DISP key
pressed. (This should turn "----" off.)
2. Enter “KCAR “from the remote.
• Press the 5 key on the remote twice, and then press the
Track Up key. (This enters "K".)
• Press the 2 key on the remote 3 times, and then press
the Track Up key. (This enters "C".)
• Press the 2 key on the remote once, and then press the
Track Up key. (This enters "A".)
• Press the 7 key on the remote twice, and then press the
Track Up key. (This enters "R".)
3. The security code is cleared and the unit enters the ALL
OFF mode.
4. If you commit a mistake in the code entry, the unit enters
the code request mode again.
