Did you take it out of monitor mode?

If your amp was shorted it would not stay powered on. Make sure you have the correct input selected (toslink or RCA). Ensure that all of the connections with the output terminals are sound.

Bought it at a pawn shop. Was working in pawn shop without an issue. Now we have it at home and playing a dvd, its at the movie menu and try to hit play but won't start movie. Plus can't program my...

The Circle Symbol is telling you the choice you're making is INVALID in that context.

It is the rare menu that actually responds to the PLAY button. You usually have to navigate to the "PLAY" (or whatever) choice and press ENTER.

The specific product you're inquiring about is not showing in your post. Name the make and model first, then we'll ALL look for the manual. Then (maybe) find a solution. You might find it at the manufacturer's support site or these guys...

I was listening to the radio on the receiver. With no warning, the sound went dead. Now there is a notice in the readout window that says "DC OUT." The CD player won't play through the receiver...

This is a ground fault warning letting you know that it is protecting itself (the receiver that is)
it could be a fuse with a small crack (not normal) it could be a speaker has just blown or has started to go.

and most likely it could be the stereo itself and will need repair.

hope this helps.

No sound: The receiver has suddenly stopped giving out any sound, regardless on which input I use. Have tried powering off/on (disconnecting all power), and checked front-speakers on another receiver.

That sounds like you blew the fuses inside the receiver. Take the cover off and check them. Typically thats the problem and if I'm not mistaken they are AGC-5 Buss fuses available at your local hardware store.

Surrond sound

For Stereo Mode (Front L & R Speaker), you must plug RCA cables (match up red and white) from Output on DVD player to DVD Input on the back of the receiver. Then with speaker wire, run from receiver speaker output (Front Speakers) to designated speaker (make sure + and - match up to both input and output). As for hooking up surround sound, I'm currently trying to figure that one out with just using the L, R and Center. I don' t want wire running all over the place just for rears. Hope this helps
