I the receiver shuts off or goes to standby, then there is a short, probably on speakers cable, or on connector cable.

See if you get some problem with different speakers.

It shuts off due to the ic on the board getting overheated and shorting the board and due to that it shuts off.as it starts properly for couple of minutes or seconds you say but as its ic gets heated it shuts off.
u can get the required ic at

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Either the speakers are defective / the ohmage is below ratings of the Denon Dvr-1400 or internal fault on the receiver.

Check the specs of the speaker. There would be label at the back nd compare to minimum requirement of the Denon. Additionally, use a VOM/DVM and check resistance/continuity of the speaker/speaker wire.

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

It seems like its power supply is faulty.

Welcome to Fixya! It sounds like the Reciever is getting too hot and shuuting down. Have you checked the Cooling fan inside to see if it is working?

Could also be the Power Supply. You need to locate an Authorized Service Center for a Repair of these Problems.

There is no capability to switch to front "B" speakers, the second "front" speaker output allows for bi-wiring a single pair, or running two speakers with identical outputs.

THE BEST SOUND IS WHAT SOUNDS BEST TO YOU, HOWEVER DO THIS:
1, USING THE SETUP MIC CONFIGURE YOUR DENON, PAGE 8 OF THE MANUAL. NEXT

3. WHEN LISTENING TO AUDIO CD OR RADIO TRY THE 5 CH STEREO DSP MODE.
4. WHEN WATCHING A DVD USE DSP DOLBY PROLOGIC OR TRY 5CH STEREO IF THE MOVIE IS MOSTLY TALKING.

No dish network sound through denon 1609 receiver

check the setting for the HDMI connection at the Denon you may have to assign the HDMI audio setting also on the front of the Denon while in the DVR mode press the input mode button on the front of the Denon to select auto and if that doesn;t give you sound you will have to connect a cable from the DVR optical.coaxial or analog audio output to the Denon and setup for that type of audio connection

Denon avr-886 VERY FRUSTRATED

Read the manual. You've either got crossed speaker wires, it's overheating, or it's a more serious problem. The same just started happening to mine, so I'm taking it in.
